The Monarchs lost for the first time two weeks, falling to the Storm 77-71 in Seattle, heading into the Olympic break. Remarkably, the Storm was the last team to beat the Monarchs, who since then tied a franchise record with seven consecutive victories.

Sacramento, at times, looked like a team in the back half of a back-to-back, giving up several long runs in the second half to let the Storm back into the game. The Storm, led by Sue Bird’s season-high 24 points, have the best home record (13-1) in the WBNA.

Scholanda Robinson led the Monarchs with 13 points. Olympic-bound Nicole Powell pitched 12 for the visitors.

Except for Powell, who will be on her way to China, the Monarchs will have most of August off. They will return to take on the Los Angeles Sparks on August 28.
