One good thing about New Years day it's out with the old and in with the new and that's one thing that the Stanford Cardinal can look forward to after dropping a tough ball game to the Oklahoma Sooners 31-27 at the Sun Bowl in El Paso on Thursday's New Years Eve thrill.

The Cardinal got to the Bowl but couldn't finish but made it a close game as the Cardinal had the lead through the second quarter 24-17 until the Sooners quarterback Landry Jones made the move throwing to Ryan Broyles for a six yard pass to get the Sooners even with the Cardinal 24-24.

The Sooners running back DeMarco Murray carried for a one yard touchdown to get the Sooners the lead and game winner. Broyles caught three touchdown passes and he was a key for the Sooners offense. However a hard fought season comes to an end for Cardinal running back Toby Gerhart who lead the nation in rushing with 1736 yards, for 135 yards with 32 carries in the first half but got shut down in the second half as the Sooners came up with a game plan to seal the deal, "We had our chances, we had the ball with two minutes and something to go. We didn't capitalize" said Gerhart.

The Cardinal Head Coach Jim Harbaugh has a lot to think about over the off season but like he always does he put together a great game plan and almost executed winning the Sun Bowl but Oklahoma just was a hair better. Harbaugh might get some new recruits and next season wants to mold Stanford towards a Rose Bowl. We'll see.

After AT&T dumping it looks as if Tiger's is finished: For Tiger Woods it's amazing how just two short months can tear down everything he's built up. After the AT&T had canceled sponsoring Woods it seems like you officially can call it the last nail in the golfer's coffin.

His wife left him and now resides in her native Sweden with his kids who he wanted to see so much, Gillette, Accenture, Electric Arts, Proctor and Gamble, Nike and Pepsi have all claimed that combined they have lost $12 billion in advertising revenue in stock value related to their association with Woods.

Some have said on some of the radio talk shows that Woods won't recover from something like this unless he comes back to golf and win tournaments by the bushels. Woods would have to stand up for himself and say that the affairs were of his business and tell everyone to either butt out or he would have to admit all but say he's moving onto kicking some butt on the course.

The way things are shaping up Woods may be past the point of no return and may not be able to make any kind of come back. Losing AT&T is huge and if he was to lose Nike that would be the final straw if this AT&T cancellation isn't already.

Woods is on an indefinite leave from golf and is facing losing his half of the one billion he has made playing the game to his soon to be ex-wife Elin Nordergren. Tiger could win all his future tournaments but the whispers and talk and cat calls on the course will follow him to him to his dying days of his golf career.

While it's true that some in the sports, political, or entertainment world are no different or better than Tiger himself but because Tiger was the face of golf someone somewhere was looking to knock the golf champ off his collective pedestal and now it's happened.
