Sportstalk: Michelle the Stanford Cardinal 8-4 (6-3) will take on the Oklahoma Sooners 7-5 (5-3) in the Sun Bowl in El Paso on Friday. Sooners quarterbacks Landry Jones and Sam Bradford have been the Sooners one two punch but Jones has lead the way at the position with his offensive prowess what impresses you about Jones and what the Sooners have done this season?

Sam Bradford was KO'd early in the season and the Fresman Landry Jones has been doing a great job as the starting QB. He will have his hand full against Andrew Luck and Toby Gerhart. But, I know I told you this weeks ago after the bowl selections. It will be a good game of two evenly matched teams with Stanford as the victors.

Sportstalk: The Cardinal can look back on a season where they had many successes including running back Toby Gerhart who has been the face of the Cardinal this season leading the team in yards, rushing and touchdowns and has some off season talents playing centerfield for Stanford's baseball team as well. Gerhart had a shot at the Heisman but lost. Michelle describe the kind of year it's been for Gerhart.

He was a Heisman Trophy finalist. He was second place in the closest voting has ever been in the history of the Heisman Trophy (Alabama running back Mark Ingram won by 12 votes). And you really want me to describe what kind of year he's having. I think I'll pass on that question for lack of imagination.

Sportstalk: Florida's Urban Meyer had a spectacular run as the Gators head coach but his health has become a concern after having chest pains after a game on December 5th and going the hospital and after going 56-10 and in league play 32-8 after five seasons he said at the age of 45 it was time to walk away from the game he loves as his last game will be at the Sugar Bowl on New Years Day. Michelle how do you access coach Meyer's decision, will he miss the game after walking away, and how does Florida replace somebody like that?

Meyer will not miss the Sugar Bowl. He will take a leave of absence to tend to his health issues, so don't pour dirt over his head yet. He'll be back and until the an Assistant Coach will hold down "The Swamp.". Nuff said.

Final Thoughts:

1. Many of you know of my lifetime love affair with the Los Angeles Lakers. Well I caught a lot of heat over the Lakers Yule Tide loss to the Cavaliers. Let break this down for you so it can forever be broken. There has never been an NBA franchise that has gone undefeated throughout a season. The only thing I care about is the Lakers winning the Championship. If you found joy in the Lakers losing your team doesn't have enough championships for you to be relevant to this discussion. The only exception is the Boston Celtics. So, look up into the rafters of your arena. If you team has a division championship banner hanging . . . SHUT UP! Real champions don't hang Division Championship banners.

2. If you haven't gone to the Emerald Bowl go next year no matter who is playing. You'll have a good time.

3. Have a Happy and Blessed New Year!
