ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - There was no doubt about it. Only time stood in the way and the wait was short as, after getting the boot by Notre Dame, Tyrone Willingham was hired last week by the Washington Huskies as their new head coach.

The Huskies are a team that needs someone to come in and take charge of the system that former head coach Rick Neuheisel ran into the ground. A former Stanford head coach, Willingham is more than the right man for the job. His arrival in Seattle will prove that and the Huskies will be a force to reckon with in the Pac-10.

The kids at Washington now have something to look forward to as Willingham will be looking for positive things. Good things are going happen with this hiring and it's good for the Pac-10 in general.

All the good things are happening for the University of Washington and it makes them look good in hiring a coach that not only wins games, but graduates players.

Willingham is a man of character and throughout this whole ordeal, he's handled himself in a very dignified manner. He never pointed a finger at Notre Dame and never blamed anyone for his firing. Even though he might have been incensed, Willingham never let anyone know he was.
