	#1. While it may not be the Holiday Bowl, Fiesta Bowl or even the Rose Bowl the excitement around the Bay Area has been on Cal's appearance in the Emerald Bowl. Can you see coach Jeff Tedford going with a two quarterback game against Miami using Nate Longshore and Kevin Reilly? He will have to go to the two QB system because the Bears don't have one good QB. Use them as best you can, cause they are all you've got. #2. Cal has been in command on their home court. They have also been effective on the road. Their biggest change is the ball distribution on offense and how they've shut teams down by some 10 points to win ball games. How advantageous is the home floor for the Golden Bears? Cal has not played anyone until they get to conference play. The Bears have also not proven to anyone that they can protect their home court against anyone who can truly challenge them. So to answer your question, there is no advantage as of today. #3. At Stanford Anthony Goods (19.0), Lawrence Hill (14.2), Josh Owens (13.7), have lead the Cardinal to a 6-0 record. The Cardinal have four more games until they get into the Pac Ten. In the Pac 10 there are eight teams that have not lost more than three games. How telling is this or when the Pac 10 meet together on the schedule would you say that will be the real deal? Have you not been hearing what I have been saying for the past three weeks? All things in Pac-10 Men's Basketball will be revealed when conference play begins. There will be no more tomatoes to kick around. If the Cardinal and the Bears plan to get to the dance they are going to have to play a near flawless season. Final Thoughts: 1. I breathlessly await the Detroit Lions to go 0-16 this season. I also expect that if they do go 0-16 that they will come back next year with a good sized chip on their shoulder and ready to prove themselves. I like Coach Marinelli, and I wouldn't wish this type of season on anyone. But, I strongly believe that now that the Detroit Lions are not under the suspect leadership of Matt Millen there will be some good changes in the Lions future. 2. Message to Tiger Woods. Caddies are supposed to carry your clubs and that is all. Tell yours to put a sock in it and collect his huge salary. 3. Merry Xmas!!!!
