1. Courtney Paris and Ashley Paris of the Oklahoma Sooners are enjoying a great season so far Courtney is averaging 15 points per game and Ashley is averaging 16 per game. Oklahoma is 6-2 and talk is that the Sooners can get to the finals. How much of a difference do the Paris twins make on this team?
They make all the difference in the world. They are legitimate post players who can make an opponent change their shot or make a bad make a bad play. Courtney and Ashley Paris are the difference makers for the Lady Sooners.
2. The Bears are hosting Nevada Saturday coming in 7-2. Talk Show host Michael Duca said that head coach Mike Montgomery has this team firing on all cylinders and that Jerome Randall, Patrick Christopher, and Theo Robertson have been the big three on that team. How do you like the Bears momentum and what do you think they'll have in store for the Pac-10 when them come calling?
Nevada is a good early test for the Bears. They are a team from a smaller conference, but they play hard on both sides of the ball. As for what is in store Cal when the Pac-10 comes calling . . . I have one word "PAIN." UCLA is still UCLA, and Washington, Arizona, and Arizona State won't make it easy for anyone. I know Cal has the Big 3, but it takes five to win a basketball game.
3. Finally the Bears football crew at the coaches luncheon reception last Thursday said that recruiting will be essential during the Emerald Bowl; and second, Cal players will take exams in San Francisco so they can get ready for the game on December 27th. Michelle talk a little about the recruiting for Cal and how important for the students to have their exams down.
Cal you need a quarterback or two, and you need an offensive line that can protect the Qb and open holes for your running backs. Nate Longshore is not, and has never been the answer! Recruit the players from California, but you need to go to other football states like Florida, Texas, and Pennsylvania and find talent as well. If I live in Pennsylvania you better believe I am thinking about going to school somewhere where I don't have to dig myself out of six feet of snow. Wearing flip-flops in December could be a selling point.
Final Thoughts:
1. Auburn University showed the world that they are not looking for the best candidate for the Head football coach; They are looking for a White male who will tow the party line. I told you last week that they wouldn't higher University of Buffalo Head Coach Turner Gill, and I still think that Auburn is not a good place for Gill. But to higher Gary Chizix, a coach with a loosing record in three years at Iowa State. Puff, puff, pass whatever you are smoking to the left hand side.
2. Two more NBA coaches were fired this week. Mo Cheek in Philly and Reggie Theus in Sacramento. Cheeks just wasn't getting the job done, and Theus should have never left New Mexico State.
3. Sam Bradford of the University of Oklahoma won the Heisman Trophy. I am very happy with this choice. I think Bradford had a solid year and has led his Sooners to the National Championship Game. BOOMER SOONER!!! I really thought that the press were going to continue with their man crush on Tim Tebow. Tebow didn't deserve the Heisman this year, and Harrell of Texas Tech should have been in New York just because he had one heck of a year.
