Sportstalk: The Cal Bears (8-4) will be at the Poinsettia Bowl on Wednesday the 23rd against the Utah Utes which will conclude a bumpy season for the Bears where they lost some heart breakers during the regular season. The Bears are 10-8-1 in post season in bowl appearances and are 5-1 post season under head coach Jeff Tedford. How do you like the Bears chances against Utah at the Poinsettia Bowl?

I told you last week that Cal will lose to Utah. The team is lacking something. I know that one reason is the loss of Javid Best to a concussion, but the loss of one person should not stop a team in its tracks. I really just don't think that Coach Tedford is getting the job done. This team should not be falling apart every year for the past three years at the mid-way mark of the season. Next year, in my eyes at least, Jeff Tedford is on the hot seat. Cal Athletics does not want to be the program just getting by; they want to mention strongly when the topic of conversation is who are the powerhouse teams in the Pac-10. And no one is trying to hear any cop out excuse about West Coast bias.

Sportstalk: Michelle, Toby Gerhart Stanford's (8-4) 6-3 primo running back will get some looks in the Sun Bowl on New Years eve in El Paso. The Cardinal face off against the Oklahoma Sooners 7-5 (5-3). This is considered by head coach Jim Harbaugh a great venue to show off Gerhart's skills, and quarterback Andrew Luck's handling of the offense. How do you like Stanford's offense coming into this game?

Stanford will win. The Sooners are lacking leadership offense since Sam Bradford's injury. But, don't expect Oklahoma to lie down and play dead. Expect a fight with the Cardinal coming out on top and a big game by Luck and Gerhart.

Sportstalk: Cal Men's basketball (6-3) have a long break between games the last time the Bears played was in Stockton for a 79-54 win over Pacific on Dec 9th and now wait until December 22 to play Kansas. With this much time off and a home game being their next contest do you consider this an advantage for Cal to get some rest and play a good game or a disadvantage with so much down time?

I don't know Cal is not playing good basketball there wins have been against teams who are less than top contenders. Let's hope this time off will give Mike Montgomery and the Bears time to reflect and find the holes in their game. If they beat Kansas it will be a step in the right direction.

Final Thoughts:

1. Kudos to "The Golden Bear" Jack Nicholas for telling the press that what is going on in the personal life of Tiger Woods is not any of his business. Also, kudos to John Daily for say that golf will not be the same without Woods.

2. Congratulations to Alabama Sophomore Running Back Mark Ingram for winning the Heisman Trophy in the closest race ever in Heisman History. Now go out there and win a National Championship before you leave for the NFL.

3. Congratulations to the University of New Mexico Men's basketball team under the leadership of Steve Alford. The Lobos went down to Houston and handed #18Texas A&M a 84-81 loss. Is this a sign of things to come from UNM? Can't wait to see them play Texas Tech on December 29th.

4. The Pittsburgh Steelers are DONE! It hurts me to say it, but the defending Super Bowl Champions are done. They have lost to the Chiefs, Raiders, and Browns. This is a fantasy football nightmare.
