Sportstalk: Michelle let's talk about the Poinsetta Bowl in San Diego scheduled for December 21st the Bears got selected for that game and possibly will face Utah and you know that head coach Jeff Tedford wants to end this season on a good note as opposed to the way they ended the regular season losing in Washington. What does it represent with the Bears in the Poinsetta Bowl?
It represents the fact that the Bears continually fall below expectations. They have the talent and they begin the season like they are "Top of The World Ma!" Then, they end the season like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football with Lucy holding. Flat on their back.
My prediction: The Bears to lose to the Utah Utes.
Sportstalk: The Stanford Cardinal who under head coach Jim Harbaugh had one of their best years in decades are headed to the Sun Bowl against Oklahoma for a kick off on December 31st how do you like the match up of these two teams for New Year's eve and Stanford's chances?
This will be a very good game. Both teams have an air and ground attack and great coaches at the helm. But, Andrew Luck may be out of luck with an injured hand. This game is going to be exciting and I can't wait to see it.
My prediction: Oklahoma wins if Luck is not healthy and/or doesn't play.
Sportstalk: Finally you and Jeremy Kahn will be covering the Emerald Bowl for us at AT&T Park on December 26th for a game between the USC Trojans and Boston College. The Trojans went down to defeat losing to Arizona 21-17 on Saturday. Michelle you said all along that the Trojans ain't all that and it's come to pass after losing to Stanford, Oregon and now Arizona?
USC is a good team, but they lacked leadership in the form of a quarterback. You had two freshman and Mitch Mustain (who would have had a much better career had he stayed in Arkansas). Pete Carroll banked the farm on Mark Sanchez staying another year and got caught off guard. This will never happen again. Enjoy this years fall of the Trojans, but know that they will be back next year playing with a vengeance and with a HUGE chip on their shoulder.
My prediction: USC wins in a squeaker.
Final Thoughts:
1. This just off the SNL News Update: Tiger Woods hit a tree and and a lot of ladies fell out. Ok, enough about Tiger Woods. He has been exposed.
2. Alabama beat Florida to win the SEC Championship and a chance to play in the BCS Championship against the University of Texas. For all of you who just gave the game to Florida and Tim Tebow I'll say it again . . . That's why we play the game first!!! Alabama showed that they were the better team. So "Roll Tide Roll."
3. The Heisman Trophy will be given out this weekend. I will say it again. Tim Tebow does not deserve the trophy this year. If I had my vote I would give it to Toby Gerheart simply because he did it without all the hype that Tebow, McCoy and Ingram had. With that being said . . . the winner should be Mark Ingram because he ate the bear (or more appropriate the gator). If Colt McCoy wins it will be because he has been passed over for the past two years. Suh the DT from Nebraska needs to just enjoy the moment. Cause you know that a DT will never get the Heisman.
