Danica Signs with Andretti for Three More!

Danica Patrick will not be headed to NASCAR on full-time basis as she has signed with Andretti Autosport – Go Daddy for three years to compete in the IndyCar series through 2012. There was no statement that indicates Patrick will not run in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

The rumor is that Patrick will run in the ARCA race at Daytona in February with the hope of receiving permission from NASCAR to race in the Nationwide Race.

Patrick could run a partial Nationwide schedule by racing on the IndyCar Series off-weeks. She would be able to run approximately 12 to 18 races next season.

Patrick has been linked with Stewart-Haas Racing and Hendrick Motorsports. Look for Hendrick Motorsports to be the winner for Patrick’s services.

IndyCar to Visit Brazil

The 2010 IndyCar season will open on March 14th in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This will be the first time the series has raced in South America.

APEX – Brazil, a major conglomerate that includes the Ethanol used in the races, has become IndyCar’s largest sponsor. The series had planned to race in Brazil in 2010 but had not selected the city.

Several IndyCar drivers hail from Brazil. Three-time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves, 2004 champion Tony Kanaan and Rookie-of-the-Year Raphael Matos are all native Brazilians.

The people of Brazil love to party and they love their racing. It should be a memorable time for IndyCar in its inaugural race in Brazil.

Formula One Returns to Montreal

After a year’s absence from Canada because of a fight over fees, the F1 World Series will return to Montreal. F1 management put into place an agreement that runs from 2010 to 2014.

The race at the Gilles-Villeneuve track will be held on June 13, 2010. It will be the one and only opportunity to see Formula One race in North America.

The rumors are that F1 wanted $165 million to return to Montreal. Montreal officials say each race will pump $84 million into the local economy.

BMW Sells Team Back to Sauber

BMW has officially exited F1 racing by selling the team to partner Peter Sauber. BMW had previously announced their intention to leave F1 due to the economic downturn.

The Sauber team will use Ferrari power plants in 2010.

The organization will make some deep cuts in personnel. The team of 390 people will be reduced to 250.
