Considered a Jekyll and Hyde football team during the course of a regular season, the Miami Dolphins showed their awfully-good side on Thursday, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 40-21 at Texas Stadium.
With both teams sporting throwback uniforms for the game, Miami's Chris Chambers played the part of Paul Warfield while quarterback Jay Fiedler represented Dan Marino. Well, sort of.
Chambers had a field day with the Cowboys secondary, particularly cornerback Mario Edwards, hauling in three touchdown passes. He finished with five catches for 96 yards, while Fiedler, making his first start since Oct. 19, went 16-of-20 for 239 yards and those three scores.
Dolphins running back Ricky Williams broke the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the fourth straight season with 104 yards on Thursday.
A week after pulling out a dramatic 24-20 victory over Carolina, the Cowboys looked listless for much of the game. Quarterback Quincy Carter, for instance, turned the ball over four times in the second half, which killed any chance for a Dallas comeback. One of the turnovers, a fumble in the third quarter, was returned for a touchdown by Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor.
Carter did complete 24 of his 48 passes for 288 yards and a
pair of touchdowns, but also threw three interceptions.
One bright note for the Cowboys was running back Richie Anderson, who scored two touchdowns, one on a screen pass and the other on a one-yard dive
