Jimmy Johnson had an early Thanksgiving this week with a historic NASCAR victory at the Homestead Miami Speedway. It was a good day for Johnson the nice thing for him he didn't just go out there to be a presence on the track he actually took some time and raced.
That was pretty darn spectacular; it was a historic moment in that he became a fourth time champion. The funny thing watching it on the TV, the way it was described by announcer Jerry Preston, "okay open up the history books folks, on November 9th 2009 Jimmy Johnson has become a four time cup champion."
There are two things wrong with that one, we already know it's November stop insulting us and two Jimmy Johnson is a four time consecutive cup champion. Four times in a row a historic achievement and that was the historic part and broadcaster Jerry Preston didn't bother to say that, your killing me.
It was the perfect capper to a season of rotten broadcasting at NASCAR. There were so many elements that were bad they make a TV high school production class look better. One of the features they have is full throttle where the announcers just shut up and instead of letting the engines we heard multiple bits of radio chatter, multiple voices,
Talk about defeating the purpose, look at the FOX network the engines roar we hear them end of discussion there is no other background noise it was silence. On ESPN you have a pit reporter who was trying to create controversy that wasn't there.
All in all it's 17 weeks we have to endure it's just draining it's literally draining and I'm like "thank God it's over." It's positive for Jimmy for winning four in a row but it was exactly totally T.V. quality fashion.
PGA win in Dubai: Here we are end of November, Thanksgiving week we have our player of the year everyone is just excited and everyone is playing for fun and in fact they have some extra bank in the off season. Those who are on the good side of the money list that can afford it.
It was nice to see Lee Westwood doing something entertaining with his golf game which has always been there but never enough to challenge people but a win in Dubai is still pretty darn good.
Saints one hot football team at 10-0: It's really a great thing to witness and to that end let's go to another extreme where the Indianapolis Colts are 10-0. Explain to me how Patriots head coach Bill Bilichick can be such an incredibly bad coach to hand the Colts a win like he did two weeks ago.
Out of those two teams I think the Saints have a chance to challenge to be 16-0. Indy looks like they can slip a little bit. The offense when your putting up a lot of points the defense is appreciative of it and it showed Sunday.
Lions still in shock over win, play Turkey day: God bless Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford for avoiding the team doctors and getting his butt back on the field talk about taking one for the team and the fact that it wasn't his throwing shoulder it saved his butt and allowed him to get back out there after getting hit by a Browns truck earlier.
It was the Lions second win of the year believe it or not and only the third in the last 34 games. The Lions host the Green Bay Packers for Thanksgiving day and the Lions will try to get their third win of the season at home at Ford Field. The favorites not surprisingly are not on the Lions side. The fans lining up outside Ford will be hoping for the best for their lovable losers.
Don Nelson; senior citizens at risk for Pneumonia: At the urging of most writers and broadcasters in the Bay Area they have written or have said that Warriors head coach Don Nelson 69,either hang up coaching or take off a long while from coaching. Nellie is on tap to hit the big seven oh soon.
Nellie who contracted Pneumonia over the weekend had been reportedly feeling weak in the previous week at least and finally the Warrior team doctor told Nelson to stand down. The pressure and stress of coaching Golden State finally set in. Stephen Jackson was wanting out and got his wish, Nellie got into a stressful fracas with Monta Ellis during practice on the Warriors last road trip in New York.
Now on this current Texas swing that brought Golden State to Dallas and San Antonio Nelson finally had to stand down, shut down and get a lot of bed rest. It might seem kind of humorous imagining Nellie dressed in pajamas and slippers, with a thermomitor in his mouth and a hot water bottle on his head if he didn't have Pneumonia but this is not to be taken lightly.
In a Science News article from November 2004 it says the leading killer of senior citizens is Pneumonia and some 900,000 seniors get Pneumonia each year. The medical journal warns that senior citizens are susceptible and men more so than women. Nellie will hit 70 years old in May and some have suggested that he and his wife Joy enjoy his post NBA coaching retirement in Maui where he was before Golden State plucked him out of retirement the first time.
