Sportstalk: Michelle the Oregon Ducks 9-2 (7-1) and Arizona 6-4 (4-3) battled it out right down to the wire in a ball game that went double over time. Ducks quarterback Jeremiah Masoli carried three times for three touchdowns and Ducks wide receiver Jeff Maehl caught two touchdown passes from Masoli. Arizona had an equally busy evening as quarterback Nick Foles threw four touchdowns but in the end the Ducks squeezed by with a 44-41 win. Michelle the Ducks are aiming to get into the Rose Bowl what did you think of their win on Saturday and their chances at getting to Pasadena?
The Rose Bowl bid is Oregon's to lose. They have proven that they are in it to win it, but Oregon State is not just going to roll over and play dead. We all know how in state rivalry's bring out the fight in both teams. I give the edge to Oregon.
Sportsradio: Cal had to work hard to get the win over the Stanford Cardinal in a game that Stanford was ahead by just three points by the end of the third quarter. Kevin Riley threw to Marvin Jones for a 12 yard touchdown and then Bears kicker Vince D'Amato kicked a field goal in the fourth quarter which was enough for the 34-28 victory for the Bears. What was shocking about this was the Cardinal were expected to pull this one off and have a shot at the Rose Bowl. Jim Harbaugh was just as shocked to lose at home to the Bears.
Please file this in your mental roll-a-dex so I don't have to say it again. If we were just going to give away victories to the most popular team we would not have to play the games. Sure you wanted Stanford to win. It was the feel good story of the Pac-10, but Cal had to win to preserve their own self-esteem. The Cardinal will be the team to watch next year (if Jim Harbaugh is not snatched up by Michigan). Both teams play well; it was just Cal's day.
Sportsradio: In Men's basketball at the Play Station 2 tournament in New York the Cal Bears were upended twice once by Syracuse and then the next night Ohio State beat Cal 76-70. It was a tough tournament that makes Cal kind wonder how they'll handle the Pac Ten when they come up on the schedule.
With the two losses Cal made the Pac-10 look weak. This was a perfect opportunity to show the teams East of the Mississippi that Pac-10 basketball is something to watch. Getting beat up by Syracuse and Ohio St. is going make it more difficult for other teams in the conference to get love in the draw come tournament time. It also showed that maybe that number 12 ranking was an over estimation.
Final Thoughts
1. Please stop telling me about Florida QB Tim Tebow's record breaking performance against Florida International University. It's not impressive when the state football bully goes to the playground and beats up a smaller kid with asthma. Have that kind of game against Alabama and I will be impressed other than that who cares.
2. I will say it again cause I still can't believe it . . . WHY IS AVERY JOHNSON NOT COACHING AN NBA FRANCHISE?????
3. Enough already with the Bill Belacheck play calling against Indy. He took a chance and it didn't pay off. Get over it. Had it worked he'd be a genius again.
4. Happy Thanksgiving to the men and women serving in the armed forces. Thank you for all you do.
