Sportstalk: Michelle it was quiet a victory for the Cal Bears to hold onto last Saturday against Arizona but they pulled off the win after leading by only two points 18-16 and added a touchdown for the 24-15 victory.
Michelle: The Bears had a lot to prove and it would have not been that close if they didn't have Jahvid Best on the sidelines with a concussion. Shane Vereen he pulled it out he put the team on it's back and did a good job, it was senior day there was a lot at stake.
As I told a lot of people head coach Jeff Tedford's job is on the line so maybe the club is fighting to keep his job because Cal has done this year what they've done for the past three to four years. Where they start out strong but by mid season they fall apart and somehow end up under achieving with all these high predictions for them to win the Pac Ten and what that falls through.
Sportstalk: Michelle a huge win for the Cardinal last Saturday over USC a game that is still being talked about this week. People almost forget that the Cardinal have the Big Game coming up at Stanford with Cal.
Michelle: Like I said last week I didn't believe USC would be able to beat Stanford and like I say week after week Stanford is a work in progress and every year they keep getting better.
It seems like every game they keep getting better in the Pac Ten and some how if Oregon faltered the Cardinal could be the Pac Ten champions. I'll be honest with you as long as head coach Jim Harbaugh is in the front seat I think were seeing signs of things to come in the future for Pac Ten football.
Sportsradio: Cal basketball is underway what are some of the things that your expecting out of the Cal program this season?
Michelle: It's no surprise that the AP coaches poll came out and that Cal was ranked so high at #12 that's just a head coach Mike Montgomery style and the Bears are going to be very strong in the Pac Ten and they have strong point guard play and they don't have any seniors this season.
I honestly believe Cal is going to do some things and they're going to get to the dance and the question is how far are they going to go in the dance is up to them and avoiding injuries and what not.
Cal basketball is going to make a believer out of people and don't forget that USC has a new head coach in Michael Cooper and then there's Pac Ten perennials. UCLA is always breaking around and Oregon likes to sneak up on people. Stanford has the leadership problem as far as the coaching and Johnny Dawkins and we'll see how things go it'll be interesting.
