Cal: Michelle the Bears just couldn't get it over the goal line this past Saturday at USC and Trojans quarterback Mark Sanchez threw for two touchdowns and it seems like the Trojans are just discarding any team in their wake. The Trojans can go all the way. The Bears might be back at the Holiday Bowl.
This whole season Cal has not played football with any consistency. You can blame the lack of on the field leadership, no leadership at the quarterback position, or you can blame the coach. I am going to blame Jeff Tedford, the coach. This team is lacking on both sides of the ball, and it just seems like the coaching staff is dumbfounded. Coach Tedford, you've gotten just about everything you have asked from the University. It is time for your teams to do more than fall short of their potential every year. Is the name of the Holiday Bowl going to be changed to to the "Cal is back again Bowl?"
Stanford: LeGarrett Blount ran for three yards with six seconds left last Saturday in an Oregon victory that decided the game 35-28 giving the Cardinal their fifth loss 5-5 (4-3). The Cardinal will have to do some quick digging out of a hole to get back in the thick of things in the Pac 10 to try and get a decent bowl game out of this season.
Whatever Stanford does this year, they are head and shoulders better than they were last year. They have exceeded any goals that most fans had for them this year. They have been blown out, and they have lost some close games. Just wait till those underclassmen figure it out. Let them enjoy this time, because next year more will be expected of them.
Final Thoughts:
1. The Raiders waive DeAngelo Hall on Wednesday, and by Friday Hall signs with the Redskins. Hall got paid $8 mil and is now playing for a contender. Who's really crying now?
2. Is Texas Tech Cinderella at the BCS Ball?
3. This past Tuesday, November 4th, we were all a witness to history with the election of the first African American President of the United State of America. When I heard the election results I ran out on the streets of downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico and was embrased by men and women, white, black, latino, and native american. That night we were all americans. Let's all reflect on that night and not just relegate it to just being one night in our lives. Let's try to make it about how we live our lives.
