Alex Rodriguez’s two-RBI double highlighted a three-run rally off Philadelphia closer Brad Lidge, as the New York Yankees came from behind to defeat the Phillies 7-4 in game four of the 2009 World Series.

With the win, New York takes a commanding 3-games-to-1 lead, with game five scheduled for Monday night at Citizens Bank Park.

In the New York ninth, Johnny Damon’s long at-bat culminated in a two-out single that set the table for the big rally off Lidge, who blew 11 saves during the season. Damon then proceeded to steal second and third on the same pitch to Mark Teixeira, taking advantage of an over-shifted infield. Teixeira was hit by a pitch later in the same at-bat.

Damon and Teixeira later scored easily on A-Rod’s double to left-center field. Yankees closer Mariano Rivera came on in the bottom of the ninth and retired the Phillies in order to close out the win.

New York jumped to a 4-2 lead, but the Phils received solo home runs from Case Utley and Pedro Feliz to tie the game at 4-4 in the eighth.

Joba Chamberlain, who gave up Feliz’s homer, was the winning pitcher in relief.
