Solo home runs from Mark Teixeira and Hideki Matsui, combined with stellar pitching by A.J. Burnett, sparked the New York Yankees to a 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in game two of the 2009 World Series in The Bronx.

The win squared the Series at one game apiece as the Fall Classic moves to Philadelphia for games three, four and five. Cole Hamels is scheduled to start for the Phillies in game three Saturday against New York’s Andy Pettitte.

The Phillies took a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI single by slumping Matt Stairs, who is in the midst of a 4-for-51 drought. But Philadelphia never advanced another runner past second against either Burnett or closer Mariano Rivera, who threw over 40 pitches in the eighth and ninth innings to get the save.

Teixeira and Matsui both homered off longtime foe and losing pitcher Pedro Martinez. Teixeira tied the game with his shot to the right field bullpens in the fourth inning, and Matsui put the Yanks ahead to stay with a two-out blast to right.

Pinch-hitter Jorge Posada tacked on a run-scoring single for New York off Chan Ho Park in the seventh.
