NASCAR Sets New Race Start Times If want to watch NFL games, you know what time they start. Here on the Left Coast NFL games on Sunday start at 10 AM, 1:15 PM and 5 PM. The Monday Night game starts at 5:30 PM. The times are easy to remember and consistent. Now ask yourself when do NASCAR races start? No one knows because they can start at any time up until now. NASCAR has finally realized that they need consistent starting times. NASCAR already confuses fans by using four different TV networks each season. The situation is especially confusing to the casual race fan. NASCAR in 2010 will be much easier to remember to watch because they are going to have consistent and earlier start times. Day races in the Eastern and Central time zones will start at 1 PM ET/ 10 AM PT. West Coast races will begin at 3 PM ET/ 12 Noon PT. All night races will start at 7:30 PM ET/ 4:30 PM PT except for the season’s longest race –the Coca-Cola 600 – which start at 5:45 PM ET/ 2:45 PM PT. The new starting times are from direct feedback given by the 12,000 member NASCAR Fan Council. The council, which is made of avid fans, said they were often confused about when races would begin. If your most loyal fans do not when the races start, you are in big trouble. Here is a tip of the cap to NASCAR for attempting to be more fan friendly.
