1. The Cal Bears quarterback Nate Longshore who had a great outing Saturday Oct 4th at Memorial Stadium in a 24-14 win over the Sun Devils. Longshore shined with 17 completions in 28 attempts, for 198 yards and three touchdowns.

Running back Shane Vereen came through again with 93 yards for 24 carries and catching five passes for 51 yards. The Bears 4-1 (2-0) 1st in the Pac 10 have now won four of their last five games with a bye for last Saturday Oct 11th.

With Jahvid Best returning this Saturday against in Arizona do you think Best will be that final piece of the puzzle to drive the momentum of the Bears for their next victory?

Until the Cal Bears play USC they have played no one. The Pac-10 is a weak conference and the Trojans are the only team today that have a chance to be in a BCS Bowl. Arizona have already proved that they are not for real, so Javid Best, Nate Longshore and the rest of the Bears just need to do their jobs and finish the game strong to be the Wildcats.

2. The Cardinal 4-3 (3-1) 3rd Pac 10 have won three of their last four games and just edged out the Arizona Wild Cats 24-23 at Stanford Stadium on Saturday October 11th. TJ Pritchard threw for 113 yards in 17 attempts and completed 13 passes. T.Gerhart carried for 115 yards, 24 times, with a touchdown. Kimble carried for 99 yards and one touchdown. Has Jim Harbaugh got the Cardinal in a good place now as they get set to face UCLA in LA next Saturday?

I said last week that Stanford would be the Arizona. If they continue to play consistant football they will get into a bowl game. Maybe the Emerald Bowl that is played in San Francisco.

Final Thoughts:M

1. Hockey season has started . . . did anyone get the memo?

2. Speaking of the NHL did you see the lead singer for Def Leopard sit the Stanley Cup upside down. Tell me why is a Brit over here opening up hockey in America? They don't call Prince over to open up the soccer season?

3. Raider fans, if I knew how to stop the pain I would.
