Well traveled Angels grab game one.
Angels lead series 1-0-Game 1 ALCS.
Tuesday October 12, 2005

The Chicago White Sox went into game number one against the Los Angeles Angels with the hopes of taking advantage of the home field at U.S. Cellular Field and running to score runs. The White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen expected so many things out of the ball club on Tuesday night, which had plenty of rest since their last playoff game was on October 7th against the Red Sox, in which the White Sox won 5-3 which gave them the division.

It wasn't the case on Tuesday night as the Angels who already put down the Yankees in a three day travel swing which included a stop in Chicago in the travel schedule. The Angels being lucky to stand up after all of that traveling, and then being able to swing the bats and win a ball game beating the Sox 3-2. "We’ve had a couple of red eye flights and guys haven't really complained. I don't know if we're delirious or what" said Angles starting pitcher Paul Byrd.

Guillen has to be a little concerned considering the loss at home and you need to win those to start out a seven game series, "as I said before the game, I don't believe they would be tired. As soon as you put a uniform on you forget about the pains. It was to our advantage, all the traveling stuff, but they showed us and they show everybody that that's not the truth." said Guillen.

The Sox had five days off between games and the Angels have been traveling to three different cities in three days for ball games and to keep their style in tact. The Angels are exhausted and catching up on some sleep before Tuesday night's ball game in Chicago. "Those last 48 hours have been a blur we were fortunate to hold on this is the way the series is going to be." said Angel’s manager Mike Scioscia.

For Game two a 5:19PM first pitch Los Angeles will start Washburn and for Chicago Mark Burhele.

Joe Cronin and Ken Gimblin will recite the ALCS and give you updates from their booths for Sportstalk on 1430 KVVN San Jose and 1110 KLIB Sacramento.
