The Los Angeles Dodgers completed their sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals Saturday in the National League Divisional Series, while inclement weather in Denver forced the Philadelphia Phillies and Colorado Rockies to move their series back one day.

Dodgers 5, Cardinals 1

The Dodgers victory completed a three-game sweep, sending Los Angeles into the National League Championship Series for the second consecutive season.

Pitching retread Vicente Padilla shut down the potent St. Louis bats, scattering four hits over seven innings in his first postseason appearance. The Dodgers picked up Padilla in August after he was designated for assignment by the Texas Rangers. Padilla was 4-0 in September for Los Angeles.

Andre Ethier was a base hit away from hitting for the cycle, and Manny Ramierez had three hits and a pair of RBIs for the Dodgers. Jonathan Broxton struck out Rick Ankiel for the final out to wrap up the sweep for LA.

Albert Pujols and Matt Holliday were a combined 2 for 8 with one RBI for the Cardinals, who were the first NL team to clinch a division title this season. The Redbirds were swept for the first time in a divisional or championship series, and for only the third time overall in their postseason history.

The 2009 Cards and the 1928 squad that was swept in the World Series by the New York Yankees were the only St. Louis teams that failed to win a game in the postseason.

Phillies at Rockies

Snow, and sub-freezing temperatures forced postponement of game three of the NLDS between Philadelphia and Colorado at Coors Field. The game is rescheduled for Sunday at 8:05 p.m. Mountain Time. Game four will be played on Monday night in Denver and if game five is necessary, it will be played in Philadelphia on Tuesday with no day off.

A cold front moved into Colorado Friday night, dropping temperatures into the teens above zero. Game time temperature is expected to be around 50 degrees.

The postponement gave the Phillies an opportunity to make a change in its starting rotation, pulling veteran Pedro Martinez in favor of J.A. Happ. The Rockies will stick with Jason Hammel.
