Sportstalk: Michelle USC took Cal to task again with a huge victory 30-3. Bears head coach Jeff Tedford has expressed a number of concerns which still echo from the week before in Oregon. He also is concerned the defense who couldn't even hold the Trojans on 3rd down and stop their pass or run?
Note to the Bears: YOU ARE DONE!!!
Sportstalk: Cal quarterback Kevin Reilly went 15-40 for 199 yards no touchdowns and running back Javhid Best went 14-47 with no touchdowns when your money offense can't make anything happen for two straight games you have to start wondering. What adjustments do you advise Tedford to take going to UCLA for the October 17th game?
I'm not a head coach, so how am I going to advise a guy who gets paid to do this for a living. Ok, you want my advice, here it is. Stop loosing, and recruit a some offensive linemen who are going to protect your QB. If the Bears don't beat UCLA my advice to Javhid Best is to do his best not to get hurt and look forward to the combine, cause you are not going to a bowl game.
Sportstalk: The Cardinal have now won three straight all at home with the latest victory 26-14 over the Bruins last Saturday. The Cardinal now are 4-1 overall and move on to face Oregon State for next week. Like you said last week Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh have everyone firing on all pistons with quarterback Andrew Luck throwing for 14-20 for 198 yards, no touchdowns and star running back Toby Gerhart going 29-139 and three touchdowns. Looks like Harbaugh likes his ground game?
Harbaugh is definitely embracing a ground and pound philosophy for now, but I don't he is not trying to develop his QB Andrew Luck. As a former QB himself, Coach Harbaugh knows that the QB position is on that must be nurtured and should not be rushed. I put money on Luck getting more opportunities to air it out soon. It's great to see Stanford football back on peoples radar.
Final Thoughts
1. LaGarrett Blount may be returning to the Oregon line-up. I think that is only fair seeing that the instigator of the event Boise State DE Byron Houte did not receive any type of punishment for his part in the incident. As I have said from the beginning Houte was the instigator. I don't care how much smack Blount talked before the game; Houte sought out Blount and put his hands on him. Which makes Houte equally as guilty as Blout in my book.
2. Is anyone watching the WNBA Finals, probably not. It's a shame because the Indiana Fever and the Pheonix Mercury are playing some good basketball. You know why, because the NBA doesn't care if this league survives. It's write off, kinda like the Golden State Warriors.
3. NOTE TO MICHAEL CRABTREE: I make more at my student work-study job than you do a as an NFL wide receiver. Oh, I forgot you’re not an NFL wide receiver until you sign a contract. Do see something wrong with this picture. Sign the papers and earn your money. If you don't sign by November, call I'll see if I can hook you up with a work-study gig.
