Sportstalk: The Cal Bears for the second straight week demolished another school last week it was Maryland this week it was East Washington 59-7. The Bears ran up the score and quarterback Kevin Reilly had an afternoon in 19 attempts threw for 151 yards and threw for only one touchdown, running back Javhid Best ran for 142 yards averaged 8 yards a carry and scored one touchdown. Looking at the offense in the first two games do you see them doing the same thing in Minnesota and do you think the Bears are ready to take it to the Pac Ten?

C'mon man . . . it was Eastern Washington. I'm not going to stroke Cal's ego for a win that was suppose to happen. Call me when the Pac 10 comes calling. All of the stats you listed was a given. If EWU had held Javhid Best to 20 yards rushing and no TDs then this would be a story.

Sportstalk: Stanford took a tough loss when Wake Forrest quarterback Riley Skinner carried for one yard on a keeper with two seconds left in regulation with the game tied 17-17 and the Demon Deacons beat the Cardinal 24-17. This was a tough loss for the Cardinal in their first road game. Skinner had thrown for 44 yards a play earlier to get Wake Forrest to the one yard line and set them up for the keeper. Was this just a matter of the Cardinal not defending against the pass or the Deacons just believing they can convert long with very little time left?

Stanford played strong and was in this game from beginning to end. Don't take anything away from Wake Forest they believed they could convert, and Stanford is getting use to winning again. Once the Cardinal learn how to close out a game they will be a force to be reckoned with. Do I see the Emerald Bowl in their future or do I see a bigger bowl? Not sure which bowl, but I definitely see them having a successful year.

Sportstalk: Michelle with week three coming for Stanford at home against San Jose State do you think that the Cardinal can turn it around and put the game at Wake Forrest behind them focus on the home game coming and take care of business against San Jose as soon as possible?

They have to put the game behind them. Coach Harbaugh will address the necessary issues in practice and in film study and they will move on and prepare for the next game. Once the final whistle blows that game is over and it becomes time to prepare for the next game.

Final Thoughts:

1. Serena Williams lost to Kim Clijsters by losing her composure and shooting off a few expletives at the line judge. This was an unfortunate event and something I know that Serena will beat herself up over for a while. So lay off her and don't question her character. Let us not forget the hissy fits John McEnroe, Illie Nastase, and many other use to have on the courts. She's a competitor let her have a laps in judgment like everyone else. Remember, Serena Williams is still the best thing going in WTA, and in my opinion the number one women's tennis player in the world.

2. Welcome back to the NFL!! We missed you A LOT! Get rid of some of the lousy pre-season games. I don't need to pay to see some guy tryout for a team. If I'm paying to see professional football game it better mean something.

3. The University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane ruined the home opener for the University of New Mexico and Coach Mike Locksley. What I can say is the defense is working and the offense needs a lot of work, but you look better than you have in the past two years. Hey Lobos your 0-2 for the season thus far, but you haven't played any conference games yet. So, you can and you will get better.
