Sportsradio: Michelle it seems that University of Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount didn't last one week before he was suspended for the rest of the season for unsportsman like conduct after punching Boise State Byron Hout in the jaw after Hout tapped him on the shoulder and mocked him. Blount responded by hitting Hout and then hitting his own team mate defensive end Chris DiVincenzo who tried to restrain Blount from attacking again. Once restrained he was lead to the locker room doors and the fans taunting him he left and tried to attack the Boise fans in the stands. Blount had to be restrained again by at least six security staffers, team mates and coaches. Blount apologizes but now the Ducks are out their top running back for the rest of the season?
Let's get one thing straight Blount wasn't suspended for the season because he sucker punched Hout, he was suspended because he went after heckling Boise State fans. He can apologize until cows come home, but the University of Oregon is thinking about future match-ups that he might be in the same situation and actually hit a fan. Second, this whole incident wouldn't have happened if Byron Hout had not sought out, put his on, and taunted Blount. He was the catalyst and is just as guilty as Blount and should loose his season also. I am waiting to see how the WAC and Boise State handle the Hout situation.
Sportsradio: Expectations for the Cal Bears are huge, their quarterback Kevin Reilly is expected to perform to his top level and Javhid Best is expected to be an impact on offense. Do you see this year's Bears team making a run for the Roses this season?
The Bears can have the season they want to have, and they can definitely be in the run for National Championship. The fact that Reilly is the only QB and Best is going to make the most of this year so that he can enter the NFL Draft. Also, I believe that if the Bears don't improve their performance on the field, Jeff Tedford may be on the hot seat at the end of the season.
Sportsradio: Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh has the Cardinal rough and ready for the season at hand. He improved the club since last season and has worked heavily with the quarterbacks. Can Stanford rise to respectability this season and get a decent Bowl game out of it this year?
Yes they can! This is Jim Harbaugh's third season as head coach of the Cardinal. He now has young men have been in his system for at least two years. I expect Stanford to have a good showing this year and bring lots of smiles back to the "Farm."
Final Thoughts:
1. Football fans PLEASE REMEMBER that this is week one and no one's season is over. No matter what you hear on ESPN.
2. Lane Kiffin and his Tennessee Vols beat the snot out of Western Kentucky, and you know what . . . THEY WERE SUPPOSE TOO!!!! This is not a win I would want to hang my career on if I were Kiffin. You call me when Florida, Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas call. Until then I don't want to hear about the new Vols or their coach.
3. Good luck to Coach Mike Locksley of the University of New Mexico and Coach DeWayne Walker of New Mexico State University as they begin their first year as head coaches.
4. Finally, a big shout out to my cousin Moses Ellis, CB at Prairie View A&M. Good Luck Kinfolk!! You and your boys show'em what'cha got!!
