1. Cal pulled off a big win over the Michigan State Spartans and got a home opening victory. Key guys for Cal, quarterback Kevin Reilly had himself an afternoon finding and handing off to wide outs and running backs. Reilly left little doubt that he can run the offense and all but ended the quarterback controversy.
I have always thought that Nate Longshore is not who the Bears need to get them into a BCS Bowl Game. But let us not forget that, that was only one game, against a Michigan State team that is not at the top of their game. So let's not get carried away. Let's see couple of more games; against better competition.
2. What a big win for Stanford last Thursday. Jim Harbaugh the master at quarterbacking got Tavita Pritchard to run his offense and produce a huge win. The other key play was when the Cardinal tied and passed up the Spartans with a field goal and a safety showing that this year's team will show no give up. How impressive was this first win of the season?
It's not impressive, it's Oregon State. It's good that Stanford won, but let's see what happens further down the line before we have them playing in the Rose Bowl.
3. With opening day wins for both the Cardinal and Bears looking ahead to the next games give us your prediction on how these teams will match up? Cal at Washington State and Stanford @ Arizona State.
Cal and Stanford can both loose these games, and I haven't seen enough from either team to say that they are will win.
Final Thoughts:
1. I really hate that Tennessee lost to UCLA. Not because I a fan of either team, but because I hate that this win makes Rick Neuheisel look relevant.
2. Thank God the NFL is back.
3. Is baseball over yet.
