Watching the National League standings it boggles the mind how things can go like that and there is still more to come. The Rockies come back to Pac Bell in two weeks starting Monday the 14th, 15th and 16th.
Don't discount the Braves out of the race and the Braves are only 3.5 games out with a lot of time left and just think this race might involve the Braves if somebody slips it's still possible.
Michael Lewis injury: 49ers Safety Michael Lewis who is out with an injury and hockey players and football players those who wear helmets and who practice hard and end up with concussions or in the case of Lewis an abdomen injury teams who have hit hard in practice and to have injuries like this NFL teams should be worried.
Lewis has every right to be worried right now. The 49ers got by the Cowboys and in pre season teams aren't going to show you too much but getting a victory over the Cowboys at Cowboys stadium may not mean much because it's preseason football.
49ers at 3-0 in the pre season: Case in point look at what the Detroit Lions did last season. They won every single pre season game at 4-0 and ended up losing every single regular season game.
Pre season is absolutely zero meaning in the greater scheme of things and last year the Raiders gave up 536 yards of offense and reverted back to old habits is a sign of things to come.
Some of the guys in try outs are trying to make an impression on head coach Michael Singletary and he will have some tough choices to make on some cuts but there are a lot of guys in camp that he really likes and look for him to keep most of the established players.
H1N1 flu shots for NFL players: This is going to be an issue requiring players to take the H1N1 flu shots that is something I would not want to be a part of this in terms of settling this issue between the players and the management. There is already plenty of skepticism about the safety of the shot itself and what’s in the vaccine and what it's supposed to do to protect you and what are the side effects?
The football players are very cautious about taking the shots and also the Players Association at some point may step in if the league requires the players to take the shot due to the fact that the sport is a full contact sport that could pass off the Swine flu from one individual to another.
Raiders trounced in week 3: Can you say ugly? Disgusting? It's pre season yes but the Raiders last Saturday drew only 32,000 for a game that the visiting Saints whupped them in 45-7.
Raiders Defensive end Greg Ellis said after the game "the team needs to make a better commitment" "Commitment" it's a word we've heard around that team before and one of the players was saying "we just can't stay out all night anymore" a night before a football game.
You cannot be at a Terrell Owens like happening all night and expect to play effectively the next day. During the regular year you have your own life and you’re supposed to be an adult in the matter the way that it is now the Raiders have issues.
24-72? Since the six years they've been in the Super Bowl? 24-72? For crying out loud the Raiders have gone through head coaches and losing seasons since Jon Gruden left the team. Who's going to take this team in the right direction? Prediction: long season coming up starting Monday Night on September 14th with the Chargers.
Cal opens against Maryland on Sept 5th: The Bears played against Maryland last season will open up against them and this should be as exciting a new season. The Bears will have to run through USC to get the Roses in the Pac Ten.
The Bears should be back this year. If they can build the team up and quarterback Kevin Reilly can lead this season's team and the playbook can be mastered at fooling and figuring out USC's offense and defense and out maneuver Pete Carroll and company.
