The triple play that many of you saw on Sunday was only the second time that an unassisted triple play ended a ball game in Major League history. The Mets who were at bat with two runners on with nobody out down two runs and hitter Jeff Francoeur was the winning run at the plate and the runners are going and Francoeur hits a line drive right at Phils second baseman Eric Bruntlett who not only made the play taking the line drive and stabbing second and tagging out the runner but had the easiest triple play he'll ever get. Triple plays will happen if your in the right place at the right time and with the runners going Bruntlett ended up being in the right place and that helped.

NL Wild card race: It's a three way race in the National League for the wild card spot between the Dodgers, Rockies and Giants since the Rockies and Giants met for four games this week have tightened up the standings and the Dodgers are within reaching distance. All things good and bad come in threes.

The Dodgers lead was nine to ten games at one time and the Dodgers are proving to be mortal and are coming back down to earth but the way the schedules are working out. With Colorado their key week on the schedule because they have the final week with the Giants at home they also host the Dodgers for three starting this coming Tuesday.

Then the Rocks go to the Giants over the weekend and then down the stretch they head into September and the focus is on the division down the stretch and there are more meetings coming and the Giants and Rockies have three more at the Bell on the 14th, 15th and 16th and the Rockies have to close going into L.A.

Can you imagine the division on the line at this point there should be no surprise if it is. You don't have a big pile of games with each other but it's amazing what they've done I have to give the edge to Colorado for what they've done.

Heatley still wants out of Ottawa: The Ottawa Senators Dan Heatley still wants out of Ottawa because his ice time has been limited to a little more than he expected. Heatley express his displeasure after last season after seeing his minutes reduced and has been very vocal about leaving the Sens and is almost protesting staying by standing on a soap box to do it.

Last month he was this close to going to San Jose what stopped the deal was the Sens management made it clear he has a year left on his contract and would not give him permission to go. He also was trying to bargain a deal to go to Edmonton which was shot down quickly.

If the arbitrators do not deal Heatley in some way before the season starts then the Senators are going to have a painfully long year. Remember if your star is unhappy it spreads like a cancer across the room.

Kane the pain: The Chicago Blackhawks Patrick Kane on Monday pleaded not guilty and was emotional while talking with the media about it. Kane what are you thinking let it go. Let it go you've already embarrassed yourself and he's digging a hole and it's just going to be an inescapable one at some point come on.

The way he was addressing the press on Monday was showing enough guilty feelings the ones who have the strongest defense of innocence can be the guiltiest and in this case Kane is doing that. Those who are truly innocent have nothing to protest and fabricate and shooting himself in the foot when Kane opens his mouth.

Kane and his cousin are looking at one year's jail time if found guilty of assaulting a 62 year old Buffalo cabbie after beating him in the head and and breaking his glasses. Kane is considered the top star on the Blackhawks and someone who made the city of Buffalo proud until this mishap took place.

The cab driver is going to testify and from legal analysts following the case it looks like it's going to be difficult for Kane to prove his innocence in this case. The trial may lap over into the regular season which starts in November. More to come.
