Barry Bonds teammates are up in arms, upset and frustrated by the lack of attention
they have getting when someone other than Bonds does something on the field, and the collective media have been crowding around Bonds’ locker leaving little room for his teammates to even get dressed, to even get to the refrigerator to get a cold drink, to even talk to their locker mate next door to each other.
But how about when someone does something in the ball game and they're forgotten and everyone is crowded around Babo's? "We might have someone throw a no-hitter one night, and nobody will care about the guy. Everyone will just walk over and stand by Barry Bonds' locker. No one's concerned about the Giants. They couldn't care less about what's happening outside Barry Bonds locker," said Giants shortstop Omar Vizquel.
Vizquel only moved past Ozzie Smith for playing his 2,513th game at shortstop but hardly a mention about that. "I don't think three people in here even know I passed Ozzie and if they don know they couldn't care less. There's only one record anyone around here cares about," said Vizquel.
Other player achievements are getting buried with the Bonds home run hype and now guys are starting to speak out about that and wonder if they will get any attention at all but they probably will have to hold out for such luck as Bonds is the story with BALCO, the chase, and other side bars that come with it.
"I don't know what the goal is here anymore, it's just something we've got to deal with. We're almost waiting to get it over with." said Giants pitcher Matt Morris.
Bonds is not doubt waiting to get it over with too.
