In Nashville the coroner’s office are conducting autopsies on former NFL quarterback Steve McNair, 36 and his girlfriend Sahel Kazemi, 20. Nashville Police spokesman Don Aaron had made a statement stopping short of ruling the deaths murder/suicides.
Police found a gun near the body of Kazemi who had one bullet wound to the head and McNair who had been shot multiple times including one head shot. Aaron had stated that the police are not seeking any suspects in this case concluding that this had been a murder suicide.
The Tennessean reported on Sunday that the married McNair had been having an affair with Kazemi for five months and that the married McNair could not have left his wife Michelle which could have been the reason behind the murder/suicides. Kazemi and McNair had met at Opry Mills Restaurant which is located just walking distance from the Kazemi condo in downtown Nashville where McNair was shot.
Kazemi was booked just two days before the shootings for a DUI charge when McNair was a passenger in the vehicle a 2007 black Cadillac Escalade. Police during that stop allowed McNair to leave in a taxi and confiscating the vehicle and taking Kazemi into custody. McNair later bailed out Kazemi. The Escalade is owned by both McNair and Kazemi.
Kazemi according to 99.7 WTN Nashville was more than just a friend as originally reported and that Kazemi wanted McNair for herself and the murder/suicide could have reached a boiling point with Kazemi that she in turn decided to end both of their lives.
McNair wife Michelle was first thought to be the victim but later police identified Kazemi as victim and owner of the condo where McNair frequented often. "the families of Steve McNair in Mississippi and Tennessee appreciate the concern, thoughts and prayers during this difficult time of our loss of a husband, father and son. The family requests everyone allow them time to mourn. The McNair family appreciates and continues to request your prayers at this time." said a McNair family statement.
