Sportstalk: The Giants have had a rather rough go with the Toronto Blue Jays with the first two games of the series being nail biters in the first two was it a matter of the Jays getting good pitches to hit via the Jays homer by Edwin Encarnacion's Friday night and Aaron Hill's two run job on Saturday or was it a matter of bad pitches from Barry Zito Friday and the same for Matt Cain on Saturday?
It was a case of the Giants' offense having forgotten its passport and being detained at the border until Sunday.
Sportsradio: Miguel what difference do you see from this recent series with the Jays and the ones before with the A's and Orioles, was it the good home cooking or were the Jays just ready to rumble when the Giants got to Toronto?
The Jays are a power-laden team, with well over 100 home runs already. Everyone focuses on that, but, they can also pitch, and the Giants ran into some good starting pitching over the weekend. Shaun Marcum is a very under-rated starting pitcher who is good enough to be one of San Francisco's top three starters. That having been said, it's nice that the Giants won Sunday; it would have looked bad going into the World Series having lost every road game against an AL team.
Sportstalk: Likewise the A's on this current swing have dropped games to the Cards and Cubs amounting to seven of eight loses. The A's are suffering in the rotation and in the pen and how much do they depend on getting some decent starting pitching for those series?
Totally, that's how much they depend on good starting pitching. The A's are not going to win slugfests; their best hope is to smother the other team with pitching and score enough to win.
