Prior to the game I spoke Larry Thompson the Defensive Coordinator for the San Jose Wolves. He made mention of last week's tough road loss and the injuries suffered on the defensive side of the ball. So it was predictable that the contest between the Yakama Valley Warriors and the Wolves was hard fought.
The Wolves didn't look good early on, fumbling and drawing penalties on the defensive side. It was rough and tumble, with many big plays made against the boards and players falling into the first row. The intensity level was high for both teams.
Arena football is an extremely fast affair as evidenced by the standout kick return by the Wolves WR Jerome McGee Jr in the first half. The Warrior seemed to have a size advantage over San Jose yet despite this the Wolves kept it close and the halftime score was 28 to 20 in favor of Yakama. The crowd was larger and much more vocal in support of the local club.
In the second half the Wolves went on a tear intercepting Warrior passes ,scoring on their own long passes and playing smash mouth football. They scored three touchdowns before the Yakama Warriors could blink. Despite some last minute heroics the Wolve's defense could not hold the line and the Yakama Warriors scored as time ran out . This was the San Jose Wolve's last home game of the 2010 season and there was no doubt that the fans were highly entertained. As to where San Jose will play next year that is still unknown.
