NBA Playoffs Even Steven: It’s all knotted up for the Western Conference Finals and Lakers star Kobe Bryant couldn't believe that the Suns have accomplished what many thought couldn't be done with a game four 115-106 victory to even the series 2-2.
Playing with a broken nose and a lot of adrenaline Suns star Steve Nash closed out the contest with 15 points and eight assists against Kobe who totaled 38 points and ten assists. The Lakers on Tuesday night looked as though they might have had a chance to get back into the ball game until the Suns turned it on.
Nash entered the game playing with subs and in the first nine minutes of the final quarter the Suns ran off a 18-3 run and the Lakers couldn't catch up with the final 3:05 remaining the subs and Nash turned a 87-85 deficit into a 103-94 lead and never looked back.
Head coach Alvin Gentry said he believed in his bench and believed they would deliver on defense and that they would hold the Lakers from playing catch up, "we believe in those guys, and they really believe in themselves, tonight they played as well as they could play...I thought they were much better defensively than they were offensively."
Celts want to finish off Magic: The Celtics Paul Pierce has one concern going into the game on Wednesday night in Orlando and that's getting this series over and done with after losing game four 96-92 in overtime as the Celtics lead the series 3-1.
Pierce said the Celtics treated game five like it was more like game seven with everything on the line, "we gotta come out and match their energy, feed off the crowd, we have to be able to come out here at the start of the game and get off to a good start, that's probably the most important thing, to match their intensity, and raise ours on the road."
Meanwhile the Celtics Rajon Rondo who left early at halftime with muscle spasms says he felt fine in game five, Rondo did admit that in game four he ran into some foul trouble with the spasms, and a touch of the flu and cold, "the one foul one Jameer (Nelson), I'm biased, but I don't think it was a foul." Rondo said of a reach in call and received his second foul just six seconds later, "the second one, I had to foul Dwight Howard to prevent the layup. I'm just playing basketball. I don't try to foul, but if I have to take the foul, I'll take it."
Hawks and Flyers game one Saturday: It's no joke when it comes to the Chicago Blackhawks and their team leader Jonathan Toews who handles the puck and playbook and is one of the reasons why the Hawks are the favored choice to win the Stanley Cup Finals.
If Toews can help the Hawks wrap up the Championship he would become a member in an exclusive club that has won the Cup, the Olympic, and world gold. Also Toews will join a short list of being amongst the most successful young players in the NHL with the Penguins Sidney Crosby and the Capitals Alex Overchkin.
Toews only failure is not being able to grow a proper post season beard, that were more like mutton chops. Toews is having himself a playoff with 26 points, seven goals and 19 assists. "He's been on fire. It just seems like he's a big game performer." said teammate Patrick Kane.
The Blackhawks have the personal to win this whole thing with the likes of Dustin Byfugilien, Kane, Brian "Spin-O-Rama" Campbell, Toews and many others.
