CONCORD N.C.--For the first time in 50 years of running the Coke 600 they had a rain delay it on the account of rain on Monday a first time ever mind you. What lousy timing especially when I'm working the room here at the "Coker".
They only got 74 of the 400 laps in at moment. A little NASCAR trivia Kyle Busch in 2007 in the All-Star race the week before the 600 and Kyle took his brother Kurt out of the race, and let’s just say the relations of the family harmony was a little bit interrupted after that race was on."Your my brother I don't care I want to win you won't get out of my way I'll boot you out of my way" was probably what Kyle was thinking in that race.
I love how Mark Martin has had a great run this year he signed up for another year with Hendrick Motorsports through 2010 he's rivaling the old Harry Gant who at the age of 51 won four straight races who had a September to remember in 1991 and don't be surprised Martin has won already twice this year only Martin, Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth have won multiple times this year.
Don't be surprised if Martin actually challenged that at some point he's that good, he's got that good of an attitude right now and attitude carries you far at the race track without a doubt and he's a physically fit dynamo in our old slumpiness in our old age days.
When the rains came Robby Gordon was the race leader looking at the field at the time of the postponement the field the field is kind of inverted because there in caution some of the guys in the back of the tackle entrance.
Final results: Joey McDonald the 19 year old is a rookie is here and Jimmy Johnson finished in 13th place, Kurt Busch is 6th, Brian Vickers 5th, Kenseth is at 10th, and Martin is at 17th place.
David Reutimann who won the race finished 10th in last year's 600 his other finishes have been 22th, 29th, and 32nd.
NHL Conference Finals: The Carolina Hurricanes who are down 3-0 have played their hearts out in the series but God Bless them they're hanging in there but it looks like they will face elimination on Tuesday night here in Carolina.
If they can get things in order and get the ship righted that will be impressive and don't be surprised if we get a rematch of last year's finals. With Detroit not doing what they did to Chicago on Sunday they didn't just beat them, the Red Wings beat them up 6-1, the Wings beat them down, sideways, they beat the Blackhawks every which way and just made them look bad in their own building losing by five goals.
Detroit goes home now up 3-1 and the Wings are the defending champions and Pittsburgh maybe touted as doing something in these playoffs but veteran points are going to rule out youth and experience, every time, anyplace, any which way.
Sid the Kid: The player to look for in these playoffs is Sidney Crosby of the Penguins when the Pens came back from being 3-1 down to Washington and they have steamed rolled away from Carolina like they have in that game six a win in overtime in the Igloo.
After the Caps were up 3-1 and the Pens came back that way that was a teller a true tell tale sign that the Pens are going to be for real in trying to win the Cup in these playoffs. Then there were his two hat tricks and Crosby is holding his own and needs to avoid being a cry baby on some of the calls sometimes, after that he should do just fine.
