SAN JOSE - The San Jose Stealth's Ryan Boyle received the 2005 NLL Edge Advanced Rookie of the year award Tuesday. Boyle was the top man who finished above all NLL rookies in three categories - 64 points, 22 assists, and 95 loose balls.

This is Boyle's third Rookie of the Year award. He also won the Ivy League award in 2001 at Princeton and the Major League Rookie of the year award last summer playing for the Philadelphia Barrage.

"I can't tell you how ecstatic I'm about winning this award," Boyle said. "It's unfortunate the team did not do better than we did, but coming in not knowing what to expect and knowing that I contributed feels good."

The Stealth finished the 2005 season at 4-11 and missed the playoffs in the team's second season in existence.

"The San Jose organization took a leap of faith by drafting me with such an early pick, and I had to move across country to play a sport that I've never played before, so it's nice to see that both parties benefitted. We have a great team and we are only going to get better," Boyle said.

The Stealth return back to action after the new year in the first week of January.

Ralph A. Gora covers the San Jose Stealth during the regular season and is joined by NLL journalists Michael Duca, Gary Araki, and game night radio host Jeremy Harness. They all can't wait for next January.
