Home Opener Festivities announced for San Jose Earthquakes Opening Day April 12th

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes have announced the opening day events and festivities for April 12th opening against the Chicago Fire. Kickoff time is set for 1:30 pm PST. The game will air live on Fox Sports Channel (FSC) and also on Spanish radio KLOK. The first 10,000 fans will receive a commemorative poster.

The festivities will start with an Earthquakes video on the big screens. Then, the team’s mascot “Q” will make an appearance. There will be 200 kids from the American Youth Soccer Organization making a human tunnel as the coaches and players enter the field.

Once the players and coaches are on the field, the 2 MLS cup trophies will be returned to the team’s owner Lew Wolff on the soccer field. The trophies have been in the National Soccer Hall of Fame for the last two seasons, awaiting the return on the Quakes.

The Game ball will come falling in from the sky, as the Red Bull sky divers drop in and present the game ball to the Earthquakes representatives. After this the national anthem will be sung my Manuel Romero. Manuel is a Milpitas native who is a Latin singing sensation.

Outside the coliseum will be a pre-game Fan Zone located in between the coliseum and the oracle arena. There will be the 10,000 fans who receive the commemorative posters, along with U-8 soccer kids playing mini soccer matches.
