Tiger Woods got all the baggage of explaining himself and his misdeeds once more on Tuesday and now he and the PGA would like to get on with the business of the Masters on Thursday. It might be easier said than done because the media waits in the wings with questions regarding his transgressions from last November's truck accident incident and a review of the old girlfriend list.
He said that he's at the Masters to win and you've got to believe him somehow. He had some issues dealing with the fans and media in the past. But now there's seems to be a real different side to the guy that we didn't see in past. He shockingly stopped by to sign pictures, golf balls, cards, gloves, and pennants during his practice this week. That could all change but for right now it's the most relaxed Tiger has been during any practice stretch that anyone can remember. He might have finally learned not to take himself so seriously.
Tiger is on the comeback trail to coming back but the real healing is going to come when he steps up on the first tee on Thursday. All sorts of media that are and aren't normally there are there now. When you think about it the way it's shaking out to be the media is looking for all the crap that they can dig up.
But sooner or later all this extra girlfriend talk regarding Tiger is going to be focused on the actual action of the game.
A's owner shows up in San Jose not talking to press: A's owner Lew Wolf showed up at Mayor Chuck Ried's office in San Jose for a $10 per person lunch to discuss whether or not the A's can be moved to San Jose. What made this meeting significant is that MLB Assistant to the Commissioner Robert DePuy attended. MLB is more than interested in moving the A's out of the Coliseum and that they want to find ways to build a stadium in downtown San Jose.
However the Giants who have territorial rights may have something to say about that and Giants Operating officer and team President Larry Baer had said repeatedly that the Giants have territorial rights and Baer said he would go to court to enforce the team's territorial rights clause.
On Wolf how many years has this been going on with him or the A's ownership of some kind? Since 2004? The last time I was living in the Bay Area and after all this time what has happened. The fact that I don't and I got to think if Wolf wants to move them so bad why doesn't sell the team?
Move them somewhere that's has some political power of some kind and get them down there. The A's have been horrible or just bad in years past. They need to move out of the Coliseum and get a real park and MLB needs to take away the Giants territory rights away.
The A's didn't sell out on Monday night for their home opener and drew only 30,000 fans against Seattle. Things are also screwed up due to the Raiders situation as well when Alameda County ended up building Mount Davis things went wrong for the A's and now it's what it is a football stadium.
The way the thinking is right now until the A's can do something their better off than they are their going to be stuck at the Coliseum. It's showing on their play on the field right now which needs improvement too.
Setting the Stanley Cup stage for the playoffs: Let's see where the teams are going to be seeded. Right now the Sharks are going to be seeded number one but barely over the Blackhawks for the Western Conference title unless San Jose loses its next two games at home this week. The Sharks who lost last Sunday in Colorado and won on Tuesday night against Calgary will make a real close run to get the title as they're just holding the lead by two points as of Wednesday.
The Sharks have two more games left both at home on Thursday night versus Vancouver and Saturday against Phoenix and the Sharks need to win those two games to secure the number one seed.
The Sharks eliminated the Flames on Tuesday night with that 2-1 win and the Sharks clinched the Pacific Division with that win. The Avalanche finished with an eighth place seed birth after the Sharks finished off the Flames on Tuesday. The Aves maybe harder to beat than people think. They battled the Sharks hard on Sunday and gave them something to think about in a 5-4 overtime win in Colorado.
If the Sharks are going to the Finals this post season they've got a lot of work cut out for them and it's going to be a grind because already at season's end you can see nobody is giving up any ground not even their playoff opponent the Avalanche.
