Sportstalk: Michelle obviously the big story is Talk Show host Jeremy Kahn's Michigan State Spartans shocked the basketball world on Saturday with their huge victory over the U-Conn Huskies 82-72. In this game was it a matter of U-Conn just let down or did the Spartans rise to occasion of he sixth man the home crowd in Detroit's Ford Field?
Michigan State rose to the occasion, and UConn has had players injured all season; not to mention the whole NCAA recruitment investigation. You can say that stuff doesn't matter to the student athletes, but how can it not affect the team when people continue to ask them what happened. The Big East did play higher level of competition than anyone ever expected, but it is still the Big East, not the ACC or SEC. Michigan State will play some exciting basketball on Monday night. Oh, and by the way. Jeremy Kahn is a University of Michigan fan. If you put a Wolverine and a Spartan in the same room and my man J. Kahn will hope to see a Spartan head in the hands of the Wolverine. That is how big a fan Jeremy is of the University of Michigan.
Sportstalk: North Carolina's Ty Lawson speaking of rising to the occasion had a game high of 22 points to lead North Carolina over Villanova 83-69 on Saturday. How valuable has Lawson been all season for the Tar Heels and do you see him in the show by next fall?
Lawson has been the most valueable asset to the Tarheels. I know everyone is warm and fuzzy over Psycho T. but, Lawson is the real go to guy. That's why they struggled when he was out with that toe injury.
Sportstalk: The NCAA Championship matches North Carolina and Michigan State this game being back at Ford Field for Monday night. There is overwhelming favorites leaning towards a Michigan State Spartans championship victory their first for the school?
Ok, first this is not Michigan State's first NCAA Championship. I seem to recall a NCAA championship game in 1979 when a young Michigan State team lead by Ervin "Magic" Johnson defeated the Indiana State Sycamores lead by Larry Bird. This game is still the highest rated NCAA championship game ever. State last one the championship in 2000; but let's not give State the victory before the game is played. North Carolina has a few championship banners hanging up in Chapel Hill. The last championship was just two years ago, so just cool your heels.
Final Thoughts:
1. UNC's Ty Lawson won $250 in a Detroit casino. Lawson is 21 year old, so he is legal, but Ty you will be in the NBA next year and you can hang out with Charles Barkley and do all the gambling you want. It just doesn't look good for a student athlete to be in a casino. Especially with all the anti gambling advertising the NCAA is doing.
2. Louisville and UConn will meet meet in the Women's NCAA Final. Louisville has knocked off two number 1's (Maryland and Oklahoma). I hope they got one more in them. UConn is on a mission and it doesn't look like they are going to stop until they have another undefeated season and NCAA Championship.
3. Jay Cutler got what he wanted and that was out of Denver. Well now Cutler is on the hot seat, but he's not by himself. The Denver Broncos organization is on the hot seat with their fans. First you fire Mike Shanahan and then you get rid a fan favorite QB. The fans are watching and waiting, but they are losing patience.
