Michelle Touson on the NCAA

1. Michelle, Purdue forward Carl Landry made a prediction that the Boilermakers can beat the Florida Gators on Sunday. The Gators ranked number one in the NCAA brackets. What was impression of the match up between these two clubs?

Purdue will play well, but Florida is playing better than they have all season. They see the prize and they want it. You can make all the predictions you want, but you still have to play the game. Purdue will find that talk is real cheap.

2. The number two seeded Wisconsin Badgers beat the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders on Friday 76-63. The Badgers had help from Kammron Taylor and Alando Tucker for 38 points each in the second half. Would you say Taylor and Tucker have been part of the big reason why the Badgers have got this far and are seeded number two.

You have to give those young me the credit for Wisconsin's success, but please know that if their team didn't know their roles Taylor and Tucker would just be two good players on an average squad. The Badgers just met their match today losing to an underrated UNLV squad 74-68. Big Ten Basketball was really boring this year. If it wasn't for Greg Oden at Ohio State it would be unbearable. Wisconsin is a product of that boring basketball conference.

3. The third seeded Oregon Ducks in the tournament played a close one against Miami of Ohio in a 58-56 win. This one went right down to the final minute for the Ducks to beat the Red Hawks when Aaron Brooks for Oregon drove down the lane but was fouled in traffic by three Red Hawks and got on the line for two free throws which gave the Ducks a 56-53 lead at the time. What would you say drives the Ducks?

The Oregon Ducks need to win so that they can be more than an afterthought in the Pac-10. Ducks basketball gets lost in the memory of Steve Prefontaine, Bill Bower, Phil Knight, NIKE, and Oregon Football.

Final Thoughts:

1. The UCLA victory over Indiana was probably the most boring game I have ever had the displeasure to sit through. No one deserved to win that game. Where was Aaron Affalo? Nick Collison? Come on you guys! You have been here before; let's start playing like you want to be here.

2. Kobe Bryant's 65 points against the Portland Trailblazers was a message to Stu Jackson and the NBA. That message was "I am still a star in this league!" Please remember that.

3. It is great to see Georgetown back on the college basketball scene. Lead by John Thompson III and Patrick Ewing Jr., it's almost like the old days ..... almost.
