SAN JOSE - The San Jose Stealth resume action after a
week off tomorrow night at America West Arena in
downtown Phoenix for a 7:30 p.m. game against the
Arizona Sting.
The Stealth, who come into the contest with a record
of 3-5, will have to get their first game of the
second half of the season on track. San Jose has been
taking a beating despite head coach Johnny Mouradian
trying to put a good face on things.
If the Stealth are going to push for the postseason,
the first stop needs to be the .500 mark. It all
starts with games tomorrow and Saturday night against
Arizona. Mouridian says it's got to be different from
the game Feb. 24th in Colorado, where the Stealth
opened the game strong, but later the Mammoth took
over.
"We were really there early on, and we looked away and
we just couldn't get back into the game. So we thought
it was one of our better games of the year, actually,
even thought the score didn't indicate that," he said.
Now facing the Sting and being two games below .500,
Mouradian knows this is his team's chance to try to
jump back into the race.
The Stealth have been concerned about time of
possession, which was a concern during the Stealth's
last home game on Feb. 18. Mouradian says that the
intensity of time of possession on offense and keeping
it away from Arizona will be key to a successful
weekend.
"Our intensity level is going in peaks and valleys and
as soon as we got behind the eight ball in the game,
these games are like NCAA basketball. The lead changes
so much, we just have to go through the game and keep
your head up and burst the air with energy. When we
get into those types of situations, our energy level
is dropping and we just have to get that energy level
back," he said.
So the Stealth try it again tonight and come back to
HP Pavilion on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. faceoff in
what will prove to be a test in seeing if they can
jump at the chance at going to .500 right off the Jump
Street.
