San Jose, CA – The San Jose Earthquakes just announced that they have acquired Ronnie O’Brien from Toronto FC. The deal will only cost them their 2009 First round MLS Super draft pick, along with some allocation money.

Ronnie will bring needed offense to the new Earthquakes team. He has played 114 regular season games and has scored 12 goals with 39 assists in his career. Last season he started 13 games for Toronto FC, and was a starter in the 2007 MLS All-Star game.

Ronnie O’Brien is no rookie to the All-Star team. From 2004-2006 he made 3 consecutive appearances.

In his earlier years, he played in Europe, Scotland, and the English Premiership league.

Mexican and Australian Olympic Team Exhibition match sold out at McAffee Stadium

San Jose, CA – The Earthquakes and the Soccer United Marketing have announced that tickets are already sold out for the upcoming exhibition match between the Mexican and Australian Olympic teams. This game takes place on March 2nd at 2:00 p.m. and it has sold out 46,000 tickets.

It was a year ago when the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol played against Ecuador at the McAffee stadium. In that match, the Mexican National team defeated Ecuador 4-2 in another sold out match of over 47,000 fans.

The San Jose Earthquakes have urged their fans to take public transportation because of the limited amount of parking that will be available at the coliseum that day.
