SAN FRANCISCO--Former BALCO vice president James Valente's credibility is in question after it was revealed that Valente doctored former Giants slugger Barry Bonds records to cover up a drug test Bonds supposedly took.

Valente is taking the role of Bonds trainer Greg Anderson who refused to testify. IRS Commissioner Jeff Novitzky is questioning the validity of Valente's testimony in a sworn affidavit that Valente purposely misrepresented the source of a specimen sent to a testing lab that was labeled with Bonds name and should have read Greg Anderson.

"No where on this document or any other similar BALCO labs document that I have observed in the course of my investigation have I seen Greg Anderson reflected as having a specimen taken by BALCO labs, suggesting a conscious effort to conceal Bonds' name being associated with a specimen that was sent for testing." said Novitzky.

In the affidavit the label "Barry B" had been mislabeled "I certify to my personal knowledge the specimen(s) labeled as indicated are in fact specimen(s) for Greg Anderson" said the Novitzky statement.

Since some of the evidence presented by the government has been questioned by Bonds defense and that the folders and documents presented are in question legal experts now say it makes it hard to prosecute Bonds using the folders and documents presented at trial which is scheduled for March 2nd.
