Golfers walk the 18th fairway at the Pebble Beach Golf Links during a practice round for the Pebble Beach AT & T National Pro-Am golf tournament in Pebble Beach, Calif., Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006. It was 10 years ago that rained caused U.S. PGA Tour officials to cancel the tournament. The last time rain interrupted Pebble Beach was in 2000.

PEBBLE BEACH--As mentioned before about being at the AT&T Open, a delightful area, and a perfect environment for golf and the weather is expected to be sunshine blue skies highs in the low 70s by tee time.
This is probably one of the most scenic places in the world great people to deal with at the tournament its very pleasant experience. In general, speaking about Phil Mickelson who is the defending champion from last year's AT&T tournament, he represents the sport of golf. Golfers are very pleasant people to deal with.
They are very outgoing and certainly Mickelson has done that and Mickelson is a very hard working golfer trying day in and day out to perfect his game. You have to admire that Mickelson's talent at the AT&T and as you know there are three courses, Pebble Beach which is along the ocean which is the most spectacular and then there's Spy Glass and then in addition to that Poppy Hill.
So these are the three courses they rotate and they're tough courses and just to describe to the audience for example and using the one at Pebble Beach you may have a gorgeous tee but right in the middle of it you may have to tee over a body of water.
The course are very challenging, and they are immaculately kept up by the grounds crew here at the AT&T. The crowd is going to be greater each day to the next, the thing that makes this tournament so unique was not only the professional golfers but also the fact that you have the celebrities. The crowd is able to mix with them and a majority of the celebrities that have been watched have been very congenial. For example Samuel L. Jackson was there and could not have been more congenial with the people.
Jackson, who gave the autographs was very patient smiled, was a part of the crowd and of course one of the real tournaments favorites but he's really matured over the years maybe its age has a way of doing it is former SNL star Bill Murray.
Of course, Murray puts on a tremendous show, Wednesday he played to the galleries but not some of the spectacular rather humorous performance he's done in the past but this is what the AT&T is all about.
The golfers work very, very hard and the celebrities work hard at their game their working hard to make the cut also. You see them out on the driving range, around on the putting range so the people or participants within the tournament are all really producing.
If your a champion or a winner you certainly have to work for it and for that honor. Vijay Singh is admired and he's watched often play at the AT&T in the past he's very, very impressive and obviously you admire their talents and there's no question they have a very strong field.
The AT&T has been very fortunate to have at the tournament to have leading golfers.
Tiger Woods is not here this year, but he obviously for a period of time certainly dominated the game so you have to be impressed with him but going back to the celebrities from the fact that that's an added feature that you don't see making the Pro Am.
Chris's AT&T Golf don't misses: The weather here at Pebble could not be more spectacular. There couldn't be another area that could be more spectacular for golf than at Pebble Beach, that has more beauty in the 17 mile drive of where the AT&T is located now.
You couldn't match the beauty in the PGA. According to Tom Zuewleski who covered the AT&T for Sportstalk Radio he said maybe one other golf course might give Pebble Beach a run for its money.
The views at Pebble is breath taking because of the courses, of the water, the beauty of being here and the other thing is because the tournament is ran so well you just enjoy working with everybody that is there. So that is a real reason that everyone enjoys going and is one of the real reasons that the golfers, media and golf fans alike enjoy coming to Pebble Beach every year.
Chris Hedberg writes each day from Pebble Beach on the AT&T and is on Sportstalk on 1110 KLIB Sacramento.
