1. Cal 12-9 (3-5) beat #9 Washington State after the struggling Bears had lost three games straight the Bears got help from Jamal Boykin who hit two free throws to help clinch the win Thursday night for the Bears 67-64 in tough Pullman how important of a moral victory is this for Cal?
I don't believe in moral victories. Moral victories don't win championships; they just take your mind off of how horrible your team really is for a day. It is great that Cal beat Washington State, but how does that make up for the fact that they won't even make it to the NIT.
2. Stanford continues to trounce with a huge victory over the Washington Huskies last Thursday night 65-51. Brook Lopez continues to impress with 31 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 blocked shots. Stanford is now 17-3 (6-2) and second in the
Pac-10.
The Cardinal are playing very well I believe that they will be even better by tournament time. I just hope they don't leave their best basketball in the regular season.
3. Since Cal has snapped their losing streak, do you see Cal getting back on track after that big win in Pullman? The Stanford have won six of their last seven games how do you see the Cardinal handling their next three games against Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State?
On Cal getting back on the right track . . . Cal couldn't get on the right track if they had GPS. As for Stanford winning their next three games, I think they can win at least one of the three possibly two. But, if they win all three games, I would say watch out UCLA, you now have some legitimate competition in the Pac-10
Final Thoughts:
1. The 2008 Football Hall of Fame class has been announced:
Player,NFL team(s)
CB Darrell Green, Redskins
WR Art Monk,Redskins, Jets, Eagles
LB Andre Tippett, Patriots
DE Fred Dean, Chargers, 49ers
OT Gary Zimmerman,Vikings, Broncos
CB Emmitt Thomas,Chiefs
Congratulations gentlemen and thank you for playing the game. I especially want to congratulate Art Monk who waited so patiently for his name to finally be called when others, who in my opinion didn't play with half the heart and soul as he did, were called before him. I would also like to give a great big YEAH to Darrell Green who was by far on of my favorite Washington Redskins. For most of Greens 20 year career he was the fastest player in the NFL.
2. Chris Webber is back with the Golden State Warriors. My my haven't we come full circle?
3. Super Bowl Sunday is now upon us. Tune out the announcers and enjoy the game.
