The Seattle Seahawks Jeremy Stevens, fired the first volley last Tuesday by taking a verbal stab at Pittsburgh Steelers’ running back Jerome Bettis.

The Steelers Joey Porter whose been known to pipe up in these cases of player smack downs talked to the media on Thursday. Porter spent 45 minutes addressing Stevens his remarks and his near prediction that the Hawks had Super Bowl XL nailed down.

Porter in turn during his presser on Thursday predicted a Steelers guarantee win. Porter mentioned that Stevens was soft and said,"I think we can go out there and beat them." Porter was not happy about Stevens remarks about Bettis, "should(nt) be talking about a player of Jerome's status. I watched him on film and he does not want to block. He's a liability. If they do anything using him to make a play coming to my side, its not going to work, I'm telling you that right now. If they run the ball with him trying to block me, it's not going to happen. If they leave him in to pass to me, I'm going to hit their quarterback those are the facts." said Porter.

Porter said that Stevens was scared because he's worried about Porter and Walter Jones, "that's letting me know he's even more scared because he's worried about what me and Walter Jones are going to do." said Porter.

Stevens said on Tuesday regarding Bettis that his homecoming is heartwarming but, "it will be a sad day when he leaves without the trophy."

Stevens told the media on Thursday he didn't regret the remarks one bit, "I don't regret it. I spoke the truth, no I don't regret it."

Asked about Porter's remarks rebuking Stevens, from the history of what I know, and I don't know much about Joey, something he likes to do is find something to get motivated on. If that's what he's found then that's what he's found." said Stevens.

Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said that for the rest of the week Stevens will keep a lid on things, "Jeremy wont say any more the rest of the week. I didn't really make too much out of it."
