When asked about his team’s first upcoming road game this season on Saturday, Colorado head coach Jamie Batley joked that his Mammoth team would be looking forward to “eating at a different restaurant.”

At the end of Wednesday’s media conference call, San Jose Stealth head coach Johnny Mouradian asked Matley, “You want me to send you a restaurant list (for San Jose)?”

“Please do. I like Italian,” Matley replied.

While Colorado experiences different types of places to eat, the Mammoth will also see a different Stealth team when the two teams get together at HP Pavilion Saturday night (7:30 p.m., Fox Sports Net Bay Area).

Colorado got the better of the Stealth during the course of last season on its way to finishing with the best record in the Western Conference. However, it finished short of the championship game after falling to eventual NLL champion Calgary in the semifinal round.

“I wouldn’t use last year as a measuring stick,” Matley said. “I’ve noticed that they have a different team. A couple of their guys (last year) are now gone, and they’ve beefed up on defense.”

The Stealth will look to rebound from a split weekend, during which they beat Arizona on Friday, 14-13, but lost to expansion Minnesota, 9-8, last Saturday. During the latter game, the eight goals was the fewest they have ever scored at home.

“We’re going through some forming, storming and norming,” Mouradian said. “But we shouldn’t lose to a team like Minnesota. We out-loose balled them, we outshot them.”

While Minnesota converted on four of their 12 power play opportunities, the Stealth had nothing to show for their nine chances with the man advantage, as San Jose has struggled in the power play for much of the season.

To help solve the problem, the Stealth are going to move Cam Woods into a shooter spot.

“Shooting, as you know, is a confidence thing,” Mouradian said. “Curt (Malawsky) hadn’t played this summer, and he hasn’t had the stick in his hands a lot.

“I think our ball movement is good, and I think our power play is going to come around.”
