The NFC has chosen two members of the Seattle Seahawks to replace Chicago Bears Brian Urlacher and Olin Kreutz for the Pro Bowl on February 12th in Honolulu. The Hawks center Robbie Tobeck and rookie linebacker Lofa Tatupu were selected to the NFC Pro Bowl rosters.

The NFC already have selected five Seahawks for this coming Pro Bowl guard Steve Hutchinson, offensive tackle Walter Jones, running back Shaun Alexander, full back Mark Strong and quarterback Matt Hasselbeck all are scheduled to start for the NFC. The seven selections is a tie for the most Seahawks to appear at a Pro Bowl since the 1984 Pro Bowl. The Seahawks went 12-4 that year.

Tobeck who was featured on KJR radio in Seattle and said he was honored and humbled by the selection to the Pro Bowl and the announcement coming during Super Bowl weeks makes it all the more special, "It's a real honor and a humbling thing to reach that goal. There's been years in the past though I should have been gone, felt like I had good years. Part of it is being on a good team and being surrounded by good guys. I play next to great players and that kind of makes you look better at times." said Tatupu.

Tatupu became the first Seahawk rookie to lead in tackles during the regular season since Terry Beeson led the Seahawks in 1977.

Tatupu lead the Seahawks with 105 tackles in 2005 and had three tackles, an interception against the Panthers, Tatupu had 10 tackles against Washington on January 15th.

Tatupu is just stunned about his Pro Bowl selection, "I just couldn't believe it. I'm grateful and very thankful that I'm to represent the Seahawks with all the other guys." For Jones it his sixth selection, a third for Alexander and Hutchinson, a second for Hasselbeck, and a first for Strong.

Super Bowl XL notes: Strong said that after playing 20 games during the long 05-06 season the team might be aching and tired but when the bell rings the Seahawks have been the team that has gone all out and never backed off the challenge. "Another factor why one team can dominate another in a big game is the long season. We've been at this 20 consecutive weeks. It takes a lot of character to put it together for one week one more game. We've been at this for a long time. Your body starts to wear down and mentally your tired but when you realize what's at stake, you can go out there and perform."

Strong says going to the Super Bowl was something that had to set in after last Sunday's victory over Carolina in a pinch me I must be dreaming scenario. When all the congratulations and emails came pouring in strong finally realized he was in the big game, it was pinch me time, "It’s definitely already hit me that we're going to the Super Bowl. With all the requests for tickets and plans for my family, its really been hectic the last couple of days. I'm definitely aware that something special is going on. We check voice mail at home and on my cell phone and both are full. But its nice that so many people are calling with congratulations and wishing us the best at the Super Bowl." said Strong.

JC and Kenny G's footnotes: The last time the Seahawks saw the Steelers was on November 2, 2003 when the Steelers dropped their fifth straight game at Qwest Field 23-16.

The Steelers finished at 6-10 that season the Steelers also acquired Roethlisberger and was Pittsburgh's 11th draft pick at that time. Since then the Steelers have not missed post season ever since.

Its been 26 months and some of the Seahawks who were in that game reminisce about the battle of that game of a very physical Steelers team, "they were on of the most physical teams I've every played against. It was a big scrap in there." said Hutchinson.

Hasselbeck quarterbacking in his first Super Bowl remembers playing against the Steelers from that day, "at the snap of the ball, they are moving. They are like missiles. They are hitting their gaps, they're hitting their holes and they're getting to where they are suppose to be, their correct assignment. When, you watch them on film, they look like a Super Bowl caliber team.," said Hasselbeck.

Joe Cronin and Ken Gimblin will be back to look some more at the Seahawks on Saturday with their continued coverage of Super Bowl XL. JC and Kenny G co-host Sportstalk on 1110 KLIB Sacramento.
