Could Super Bowl XLVI be a finish like 2007?

It's Giants and Patriots we have the rematch of that amazing 2007 Super Bowl that had the infamous David Tyree helmet catch everybody remembers that Patriots' team was 18-0 looking to become the only perfect team since that1972 Dolphins squad and the New York Giants upended that dream and had a big game and a big clutch finish from Eli Manning.

Obviously that helmet catch is the enduring image, this was a really fantastic Super Bowl and it left a bitter taste in the Patriots fans mouth. Frankly Patriots Bill Belichick and the rest of the Patriots had that bitter taste as well. That was one of the great Super Bowls for anyone who watched it remembers and that Patriots fans have been chomping at the bit to get a rematch to get their revenge.

The Pat and Giants played earlier this season in New England and the Giants won. So they didn't get their revenge then. The Pats get another shot at it on the biggest stage there is the Super Bowl in two weeks when the Patriots and the Giants face off against each other in Indianapolis of all places.

A place where the Patriots have plenty of history in their own right having played tons and tons of great games against Peyton Manning and the Colts. Now they get to do it again against the Giants this will be a really interesting match up. The Pats have a really prolific offense with Wes Welker, their two fantastic tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, they've had fantastic seasons.

Gronkowski spending multiple records for tight end's receiving and Hernandez was not too far behind him. The Giants this is a team that's just like they were in 2007, this is a team that has a very good defense and they have to feel comfortable coming in against the Patriots and they've already beat the Patriots once this season, if they watched the game against the Baltimore Ravens the Patriots just played they know that a good defense can shut down that Patriots offense.

It's one thing to run up a ton of points against mediocre defenses like the Buffalo Bills. It's a completely different thing to try and do it against a solid defense. For the Patriots their haven't been a lot of good defenses this year. It's just that simple. The NFL does not have a lot of good defenses some of the best ones were in that championship round.

The Giants, the 49ers, the Ravens, and the Pats struggled against that Ravens team frankly that game should have at least gone into overtime. The Ravens missed a field goal at the end of regulation that would have at least tied it and given the Ravens a shot. The Patriots have to be a little concern that if they face a good defense they're going to have a much more difficult time.

The Giants have a fantastic pass rush and as everyone knows back in 07 that was the Achilles heel for the Patriots. They just couldn't stop the Giants pass rush. Quarterback Tom Brady was under pressure for most of the game. That's why it was so much closer that's why the Giants have a similarly good pass rush and have at least as good of a secondary this year.

This time around it's almost the same old story you have a Patriots team with a fantastic offense, you have a Giants team with a very good offense in their own right but a very good defense that's capable of shutting down the Patriots offense. You can't expect to see a replay of the previous Super Bowl because it's a game that should be close.

These aren't teams that aren't that going to run away from each other. The only way this game becomes out of hand if there is some turnovers. That doesn't seem likely for the Giants as good as they are their not forcing tons and tons of turnovers this year. If they put enough pressure on Tom Brady it's just going to slow down that offense enough that their not going to be scoring 40 points their going to be scoring 20 points.

This is going to be a close game, it's going to be a lot of fun to watch despite the fact that it's in Indianapolis which is certainly not what everyone thinks is a Super Bowl town it should be a very fun game.
