Despite the controversy of head coach John Calipari and his alleged recruiting practices where Bobby Knight called him out on the carpet awhile back, Kentucky is AP poll rated number one this week.
It's not known how long Kentucky will go unbeaten they're not like Connecticut's women's team who we wonder if they'll ever lose again in this lifetime. Solid post play with these schools and when you watch the post play in shooters Kentucky has John Wall and I'm not going to make up names like Texas where they have good shooters as well but they will both be forces when the tournament bracket get kicked in high gear.
In March which is less than 60 days away we can talk about it like the other networks do but we won't just speculate on it and look like fools.
Stanford Women on roll at 15-1: Guess where the loss was for the Cardinal this season? That's right in Connecticut. If it weren't for the Connecticut Women's hoops program Stanford would have a couple of national championships by now.
I would have to think that Tara VanDerveer is a legend as much a legend in the coaching ranks as a Pat Summitt is. VanDerveer is happy to be amongst one of the three best coaches in women's basketball. She doesn't mind and she goes out and gets players and wins which is what she’s supposed to do.
Stanford is completely a solid packaged club, they have the play of Connecticut's Tina Charles if I should be so bold to use her mold, but Stanford's Jayne Appel can be a brick wall of her stature and her own right. I've got to think that everybody has to have their own cast of characters which makes them special.
These Sharks can't cool off on ice: They did it again with a big scoring victory over the Calgary Flames at HP Pavilion on Monday night 9-1 the Sharks continue to foil and impress.
The Sharks and Chicago are the class of the west right now.
Chicago had a memorable game with Detroit which was nice to watch on national television. The Sharks I've have to think they are the class of the west and the Blackhawks are in extremely close second.
Head coach Todd McCllelan is not patting himself on the back and he has a reason why that little thing called a first round post season failure from last season. That tends to motivate and drive a team a little more. Patrick Marleau's first 32 goals in the NHL this season beat Sydney Crosby out for crying out loud.
This is not the time to get over confidant: The San Jose Sharks cannot get over confident at this point. I will defer them back to the 1995 season the Red Wings won 63 games and finished with a total of 131 points.
Which ranked them second all time in the NHL history and yet they did not make it through the Western finals. So when you think of the regular season equals domination in the post season look to that and look to last year.
It's not over, it's not a lock. Register and get it through your thick hockey helmets and get it through your head!
Watch out for the Blackhawks for example: Good speed, good goal tending, they have Patrick Sharp, Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, all producing well. They seem to toy with people especially on the power play.
You got to think that the Hawks will be up there as well. Chicago is the team with the longest Cup drought in the league going on 48 years but this year has the potential to possibly end.
