SAN JOSE - After winning their first game on the road in Calgary, the San Jose Stealth lost to the Roughnecks on the back end of the home-and-home series Saturday night, 14-10. They couldn't capitalize on the power play, failing to net a single goal with the man advantage.

Most of the Stealth roster is pretty much made from scratch, except for some key players such as Jim Moss, Gary Rysoski, Cam Woods, and Rob Blaisdell.

The Stealth look like a faster team and have more offensive players. Last year, the Stealth had to make do with mostly defensive players and if they played like they did Friday night in a 12-10 win over Calgary, they'll be okay.

The Stealth had better goaltending this time around. Blaisdell did very well in stretches. Head coach Johnny Mouradian talked about this in a conference call leading up to the game. If one goalie goes down, you can't depend on one goalie to take you through the season. Mouradian plans on rotating his goalies in and out, like he did on Saturday.

Crowd wise in San Jose: It was a nice crowd in HP Pavilion for the home opener. That's basically the main reason why they drew such a big crowd, around 7,000 at that time. There's no hockey and won't be any hockey until next October at the earliest, and Fight Night season just concluded, so there's nothing really going on in the Arena as far as sports is concerned.

The Sabercats are going to start up Arena Football in defense of their title in February. When that starts up, I don't know how well the Stealth will draw. It doesn't matter whether if they win or lose - if they have something else going on, the fans are going to go to that rather than watch lacrosse, which is still not very popular on the West Coast.
