Babo son faces two years for assaulting Mother: SAN FRANCISCO--The San Mateo County Chief District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe has filed assault charges against former Giant outfielder Barry Bonds' son Nikolai Bonds 20, which can result in up to two years in jail for the younger Bonds.
Wagstaffe has charged Bonds with one count each of vandalism, false imprisonment, battery, threatening a police officer. The younger Bonds became enraged at his mother on December 5th when Sun Bonds the former and first wife of Barry questioned Nikolai about some missing jewelry in her Menlo Park home.
Nikolai became enraged and threw a broken door knob at his mother that just missed her, Nikolai also blocked his mother from exiting the bedroom where they were arguing and Nikolai spit in her face resulting in the assault, Sun Bonds called her friend and her friend called police.
When the Officers arrived at the home Nikolai threatened to kill one of them. Bonds is scheduled to be arraigned in Redwood City on Tuesday.
Tejada coming back to Oakland?: Sources say that the former Oakland A's shortstop Miguel Tejada's agent has been in touch with A's management and they are trying to work out a deal to come to Oakland.
The A's inside sources say although they could use Tejeda his defensive prowess has gone down over the last few years. Most MLB teams also take into consideration a shortstop's experience at playing third base just in case a move is necessary which Tejada has none.
Tejada virtually would have to come at a better price tag than he's normally used to being paid and Billy Beane would have to over look his third base skills and or get him some on the job experience at playing the hot corner.
The upside is the cash register will be ringing a little bit more as Tejada would like Jason Giambi at the beginning of last season would draw some interest.
Don't look now Jack Cust is back: It really didn't look like Cust was going to be coming back to the A's. A's General Manager Billy Beane while he appreciated Cust's efforts, Cust lead the American League strikeouts for the last two seasons and it didn't look like the A's were interested.
Cust who signed with the A's on Thursday for a one year deal worth $2.65 million with incentive clauses that increases the value of the deal up to $3 million. The A's figured experience outweighs seeing what a young prospect can do at the DH position.
With Coco Crisp playing in the outfield Cust will be the team's top designated hitter. One goal the A's are trying to get him on is cutting down on swinging at a lot of bad balls. Beane certainly doesn't want to see Cust leading the league in strikeouts again.
Cincinnati vs. NY Jets Playoff review: The Cincinnati Bengals are the team that I pick to win in Saturday's first round of the playoffs. This is a team that has gone through a lot this season. They've tried to get to the championship several times and they've been known as the Bungles for years.
This is the Bengals time to step up and show that they can beat quarterback Mark Sanchez with the New York Jets. The Jets are not too far off the mark but they do have some issues with the offensive line they do have some issues on defense.
Hopefully the Bengals can capitalize and shake that monkey off and shake that losing monkey off and with Chris Henry's untimely death and the team really struggling to really come over the hump in their last game of the season. The Bengals looked pretty bad they fumbled and had some issues there, but I look to see them coming through with a win in this game on Saturday.
Philadelphia @ Dallas: The Dallas Cowboys have struggled and they're not so good in the post season the last few years and they haven't won in the playoffs for four years and they haven't been able to get to a playoff game so they're really angling to get there and to go up against Philly.
Quarterback Donavon McNabb for Philadelphia can throw the ball down field. Their receivers are healthy and their running backs are healthy. Whereas Dallas is struggling at receiver and they have some issues with Roy Williams and I look to Dallas to try and pull this one out and I'm going with them for this game simply because they've to got make something happen with Dallas quarterback Tony Romo.
If they are not able to pull off a win then this team is going to have to go into a rebuilding phase and they really have to go after some key players in order to win this game.
Ravens @ New England: The Ravens struggled during their last game of the regular season against the Oakland Raiders. Defensively they really met their match. The Raider offensive line really did give them a run for their money this past weekend and the score was close for the most part.
So if you’re talking about going into New England and facing a team that could put up at least 40 points a game then I think the Ravens are going to struggle simply because they don't have the high powered offense that New England Patriots does.
The Patriots are falling apart and were finally seeing that whole Patriot reign coming to an end. Tom Brady still is the quarterback that could connect with the receiver and he does have Randy Moss. The Ravens are not as strong as a team offensively. Defensively their going to be all over Brady.
Green Bay @ Arizona: This is going to be an interesting NFC playoff match up because of the match up of the former California quarterbacks, the Packers Aaron Rogers from Cal and the Cardinals Matt Leinart from USC.
The main stream media doesn't know everything that there is to know about sports when it comes to commenting about players. Particularly regarding Rogers, Rogers had some great skill building time when he was in Green Bay. Under former Packer quarterback Brett Favre sitting back on the bench watching this guy it was the greatest education for Rogers.
Rogers came out of the draft really underrated because he was coming out early, but the kid has the skills to win the game. He fought through brutalized, because his offensive line was not protecting him enough. Rogers is going to be the star of this game, and he's going to pull off the win.
It won't be experience when it comes down to it in this particular game, there is so much fire and passion with the Green Bay Packers right now around Rogers. Looking at the defensive side of the ball with Charles Woodson who’s making big plays I think Green Bay takes it from the Arizona Cardinals.
