Michele Touson on the NCAA

1. After going 11-1 Stanford dropped a tough decision to UCLA 76-67. Stanford has all the tools to be a final four team but how important is it to the school that they beat a team like UCLA?

Of course they have to beat teams like UCLA, the Bruins are the cream of the crop in the Pac-10 and the NCAA. Stanford’s only legitimate came against Texas Tech. You lost at Siena, do you really think people are mistaking you for a final four team? Win your conference and gain the respect you desire.

2.The Cal Golden Bears took USC to the wood shed and got offensive help from Devon Harden, Patrick Christopher, and Ryan Anderson in beating the Trojans at Haas 92-82. Was it more drive for Cal or was it that they are just the better basketball team.

It was an ok win. USC is not a the elite of the Pac-10. All I hear about is OJ Mayo and no one else; that tells me that they have little else to fall back on.

3.Finally in the Armed Forces Bowl last Monday night Cal came back and won a crucial game over Air Force coming back from a huge deficit. After losing the last six games out of seven on the regular season and having a long lay off does Cal look at this as a morale victory?

NO ONE CARES ABOUT MORAL VICTORIES!!!!!!! Cal knows that they should have been playing in a BCS Bowl game but they blew it, and blew it big time. Them beating the Air Force Academy in the Armed Forces Bowl means NOTHING, and Cal has a whole spring and summer to think about how they let a shot at a National Championship get flushed down the toilet.

Final Thoughts: 1. This year's bowl games have been the biggest waste of my holiday season.

2. Watch the final season of The Wire on HBO. I can't wait to see it.

3. Does Roy Jones Jr. still have any fight left in him?

4. Randy Moss just knocked Bobby Petrino out of the #1 spot for LOOSER OF THE YEAR! His inability to show any humility after breaking Jerry Rice's record for touchdown receptions in a single year. Let me begin by saying that it took Moss 16 games to get to 23 touchdowns, Rice did in 12 games of a strike shortened season. If Jerry had had another four games we wouldn't be talking about Randy Moss. For that reason, the record is tainted to me.

Moss said he did to shut up the media. Is this the same sports media who has a collective "man crush" on the entire Patriots team. I bet the equipment manager has got women throwing themselves at him simply because he cuts the sleeves off of Belichick's sweatshirts. Randy Moss use to be the bad boy of football, and now he is just a boy who knows his place.

He will be a Hall of Famer, do not mistake any awards and acolades Moss recieves on the field for being respect or admiration from fellow NFL players. I would still rather have T. O. on my team than Randy Moss.

5. Goodbye to one of my favorite football players, Warren Sapp. Sapp announced this week that he will be retiring. Selfishly, I hope that Tony Dungy and the Colts call up Sapp and ask him to play one more season. Dungy brought out the best in Warren Sapp and he deserves to retire having a better season than he did this year. Either way Warren, thank you for keeping your youthful enthusiasum for the game throughout your thirteen years as a professional football player. I will miss, and so will the game.

Note to ESPN, FOX, and the NFL Network: HIRE THIS GUY FOR YOUR PREGAME SHOW. HE WILL BE GREAT.
